Well, I did tell you to get back on topic twice already. Have a warning.

This is a request for everyone to get back on topic. This has gone on plenty long enough, and Bob's given multiple requests to get back on topic – regardless of how anyone in any thread is acting, ever, you should be on topic.

Please discuss as you do normally. We moderators will be discussing what's happened (and it's already shaping up to be a bit of a debate), so don't think this is just going to pushed under the rug.

Rivers has a point. Let's continue the topic on GamerGate without someone ruining it…I hope.

Anyways….

There's been word that Anita Sarkeesian is violating tax exemption under 501c3.

Anyone reported her yet?

From what I understand, US Tax law is weird and full of loopholes.

Also an update on the honey badger brigade Calgary Expo lawsuit:

How does this relate? Honeybadgers supported Gamergate and were kicked out of the Calgary Expo Convention. It looks like the Mary Sue and Expo (Being sued for false claims and being malicious) are being obstructionist by trying to get the case thrown out 2 weeks before the trial date.

Copied from the Kia Page:

"TL;DR for this video specifically: Calgary Expo is protected by a shitload of shell companies that are all claiming to not own Calgary Expo. Even Calgary Expo's own lawyers apparently don't know which company really owns it.
Calgary Expo has been pulling a shell game where they keep claiming that they're suing the wrong people. In fact, they may have intentionally put some of these shell companies in certain places where a public access search would find them as opposed to a different, in person, search.
They also apparently pulled a stunt where they waited until the last possible second to file a challenge claiming that the badgers don't have the right to sue them in order to try and derail the trial. They did so in a way that left the badgers with almost no time to file a response.
There's also some form of collusion going on, with some of the documents having identical wording in certain areas.
In short, they're being dicks and abusing the legal system.
TMS and Calgary are trying to "Legal Strawman" the Badgers into claiming the much harder to prove Defamation, which isn't what they're claiming, they're claiming a similar law where you say something knowingly malicious and false that causes economic harm. The difference would be for example claiming my car has bad breaks and would need a lot of work to fix it, when you know it's not true, isn't Defamation, it's … whatever the other law is. Malicious Falsehood?
TMS and Calgary are trying the "The Honey Badgers tricked us into letting them into the con!" only the Badgers have mounds of evidence that Calgary Expo submitted themselves that state Honey Badgers on it. It's basically the Expo trying to claim the stupid SJW Narrative that TMS pulled in a legal document.
She also pointed out that the panel that they supposedly disrupted was definitely being filmed and Calgary Expo absolutely has this video but is intentionally preventing it from being released."

If this is true and not just some rumor, this could no doubt go on in some circles where Sarkeesian was a person of interest, be it in pro or anti GG circles. If she was doing something like lobbying or participating in any way for a political campaign, she would no doubt lose the exemption status.

Wouldn't her appearances at the UN asking for internet censorship and her dealings with some law proposals to censor video games count as political campaign and lobbying?

Send what? The other mods probably read his "superior than all Paul-John McFeigtosh" diatribe. He's likely gone gone.

But I'm supposed to talk about GG. Okay, I be good boy. I talk about GG. I link this:

Maybe, maybe not. Then again, one may wonder if she had any involvement with the 2016 elections in some way. Regardless, it would be interesting to see how this turns out for Sarkeesian. One may also expect anyone to think GamerGate has a hand in this, whether from one on the pro-side or anti-side.

Edit: I'm moving my post somewhere to an on-topic forum page.

I do not actually think Sarkeesian has any involvement in the elections, besides maybe censoring some posts

That and she did make a video related to Trump's victory. Don't know if they would label Trump a GamerGate president like Wu (and perhaps some other individuals) did.

Update on the mass-warning situation, I will be redacting for clarity the ones that were valid (I.e. commenting "why is this trending???" Or similar off-topic stuff) and removing the others from users that even amongst the shitstorm did stay on topic and were civil (A good chunk, actually) for further inquiries you can PM me or any of the other mods

I don't know if the comment section will get locked but for now, please keep it on the forums, have a good day

More news:

Gamergate somehow responsible for Trump presidency because Breitbart

Another article with the same message thought the archiving process broke the CSS

Alt-right existed before and formed Gamergate as a Lynchmob for women (in spanish!)

Gamergate isn't alt-right, it's Geek right, there's a difference.

And for Related General Gaming scandal news:

Super Mario Run eats cell data on top of its 10$ unlock everything (or play for ages) freemium paywall.

The liberal media says the darnest things
I do love how they are doubling-down on their claims, even tho it basically means they are admitting defeat

and I knew Nintendo not doing their own thing can only lead to disaster

More on the news front involving Gamergate:

CNN Tech sums up 2016 as a year in harassment, uses WU and ironically attributes Pizzagate to Gamergate immediately afterwards. (The conspiracy theory not the Hashtag.)

I fail to see how the heck this has to do with Tech Journalism.

According to a San Francisco news site Gamergate consists of trolls, neo-Nazis, Russian hackers and misogynistic thugs that lead to the election of Trump.

I know one of the gripes earlier was that we shouldn't talk about politics in this thread but it's kind of hard not to when Gamergate keeps getting blamed for causing a political outcome.

it seems like self-flagellation on their part by this point

Thank goodness were not trending because a lot of games journalism is trying to make drama over Tracer again.

With that comment out of the way:

Salon doubles down on the narrative

So does Voactiv

And Gammasultra compares itself to a unicorn

All these articles blame #Gamergate in some capacity to being a direct opposition of the beauty (objective) that is feminism.

Expect more of these articles as the year comes to a close.

And one would ask why GamerGate would still go on. Sure you got people in the pro side keeping it alive in some way. But then, there are people thinking it led to the election of Trump and there is also GamerGate somehow making it in the news again.

One may either laugh or face-palm at such thoughts.

I love how things have now come to such a point that we can all just kick back and enjoy the holidays, because we know our enemies will do all the hard work for us

You can't honestly think we'd ever have governor wu, senator wu, congressman wu, or mayor wu.

Concerned she actually run or concerned she'd lose? Because regardless, one would think "we could of had our first transwoman president". If we actually did have a transexual president, we would have one better than Wu, that's for sure. Wu running for the White House or House of Representatives would be at best a pipe dream and at worst, a complete joke among those that see her as a sort of lol-cow.

Here's the support of the idea of the WU world order:

Verge
Develop
Gamesindustry.biz
BostInno
NBC2 News
Sillicon Republic

Keep in mind WU thinks the FBI is #Gamergate.

And has announced plans to correct the games industry if elected

So yeah, concern feels like an understatement. (Though the these tweets have been deleted since their posting so it could be claimed under "edgelord")

This is relevant because Wu has used/is using #Gamergate as her personal scapegoat and may ride it into a political position to change ethics for Journalism/Gaming.

And keep in mind that Brianna Wu thinks Donald Trump is the president of GamerGate. Picture below.

Wu said Wu is going to run for Congress. Wu lives in Boston. I am very familiar with Boston.

If Wu runs as a Democrat, Wu is going to have a hard time winning the primary. Boston politics is very provincial. You have to put your time into the political machine. Wu hasn't done that. And unless the current Representative in that district doesn't run for some reason, Wu is going to have to defeat someone who has. I just don't see that happening. If Wu runs as a third party or independent candidte, then there is no chance whatsoever.

Remember Sandra Fluke, who had that big media exposure over birth control mandates in 2012? Fluke tried to parlay that into a political career, and ran for California's State Senate in 2014 but lost badly.

People think they can just jump into politics on the basis of 15 minutes of fame. It's a lot harder than that. I wouldn't worry about Wu at all. There is very little chance of getting elected, even in a liberal state such as Massachusetts. And Wu, a known liar and scammer, might be floating the idea of running as part of the next scam while having no intention to run.

Plus, a person who logs into Steam to send self-hate mail but forgets to log out of the developer account is probably someone who is going to have difficulty building a successful campaign.

My primary concern is that, considering how corrupt she is (I would rather use "he" out of spite so bear with me on that), he could win, and therefore could start pushing for legislation on video games as many idiots have done, and unlike them, he has full support of people twisted enough to make such legislation pass.

Wu could win but that requires more than her Twitter followers and such voting for her. She would have to be someone that manages to convince those that aren't familiar with her to vote for her as a member of congress. Even if Wu would try to push for legislation against video games, it won't be met with support from those that could get tired of it. Even then, whether or not Wu did push for legislation on video games, anything else could get met with resistance, especially since, what I last heard at least, Republicans control the house (or the senate, need to brush up on concepts of American politics) as majority.

I think Wu's voice alone could keep him out of Congress. Otherwise, we'd have members of Congress committing suicide after having to hear it for any length of time.

They'd leave notes just saying "IT'S IN MY HEAD!!" over and over again.

Ah sorry I forgot to mention, the 6 articles talking about Wu's "effort" into politics are all published on the same day. December 21st, 2016. So it looks like media coordination, yet again. (Gamers are dead tactic Take #Whatever)

Who knows, maybe in 2 years we'll have another Skype leak that talks about this latest stunt.

Speaking of Gamers are Dead: Leigh Alexander keeps spinning her story about #Gamergate ruining everything

Hrom wrote:

I couldn't. Most young people don't vote so a person like Wu running would need to sway older voters. And older voters who don't know shit about vodeo games are not gonna care when Wu brings them up. If she brings up the sexism or violence angle, her opponents can bring up how she used to.make video games, and that's her campaign down the drain with her own talking points.

Hrom wrote:

If Wu does that, I'll put my name on the Ballot to apply for opposition, I'll even have my party colors be Green and Purple. Attack helicopter for office. "Soi Soi Soi" shall be my slogan.

(Ok back to sanity)

Speaking of the whole ordeal, Randi "I made a block bot" Harper is against WU running for office in response to Wu's verge article

Last edited Dec 23, 2016 at 02:52PM EST

Ask yourself, has Wu ever demonstrated an ability to be a team player or work with others on an equal footing? Beyond the video game team, which Wu was the boss of, the answer is no. It's all about Wu, all the time.

Politicians have to be able to compromise and work within adversarial relationships. WU cannot do either. Nor is Wu a good liar. Most damning to Wu's political ambitions, Wu needs constant attention and will seek it out- even if that attention is negative.

Wu has no political skills and I wouldn't be concerned about any potential for a political future. Wu's anti-GG allies keep Wu at arms' length, because even they realize what a toxic entity Wu is.

If Trump is allowed to win with his colorful Twitter page then I fear we might have Trump VS Wu 2020.

@Wu World Order
I can't wait for her primary opponent to just air the Revolution 60 trailer as an attack ad against her, with the text "This is the quality of Brianna Wu's content. Do you really want this quality representing you in Congress?" at the bottom of the screen.

It's also hilarious seeing her think she can call Congressional hearings and subpoena CEOs as a first term Congresswoman, let alone even be on one of the subcommittees.

But not the Supreme Court. (Not to mention it's really doubtful the GOP House or Senate would back such a bill.)

Well time to get the ball rolling again with some humor:

WU was one of Gamergate all along

But seriously it tells you who WU is planning on running against and more about WU's plight
