That kind of reminds me of Degrassi making an episode months ago, literally called "Not All Men", that covered stuff like video games and sexism and so forth. There was a white boy who was really angry that people are triggered by so much nowadays and takes a keyboard and throws it on the ground. Pretty sure that was their skewed interpretation of us. Some of the comments on the video were tearing it apart, though. Anyways, the MTV thing might be something like that where the people who made it have a warped view on things, making it easy to ridicule.
Ah, that whole "Punching up" excuse. I never really got that. Anyway:

There's an article that seems to target the message of the matter
This redefines Gamergate with new iteration: A Revolt against Identity Politics. A revolt against the idea that the more of a minority you are/ the more oppressed you are: the more "pure" you are. However, if you're in a position of power and more common, then you must be inherently sinful.
Though I do find it hilarious that the Developer talking brings up a hypothetical that actually happened.
(I should probably bring that material to him just to get his take on things. Could be fun.)
So to fit this new definition in Gamergate (Revolt against Identity Politics: RaIP? Wow, that's unfortunate.) I give you the other topics that are going on in the Gamergate community actively concerning this angle:
Amy Schumer, teaming up with Sony to become the next barbie and getting praise for it
FFXV is Patriarchy for having a cast of 4 males
And
PewDiePie threatens to leave Youtube becuase he believes he's getting shafted for not being PR friendly/White (Youtube link)
Also for more pure Gamegate news related to ethics in videogaming:
Pixel Empire appears to be some sort of "EXPOSURE" campaign that is acting really really shady (KiA Link)
