The later

On average a anime episode costs about $300,000 to make. The worst case scenario with this is that anime studios will be even further pressured to use cgi, cgi can be good if it's a good studio but a lot of times like you said certain companies flood series.

The kind of mixed thing about this is that we might see a lot of anime movies and shorter seasons rather than full blown tv shows. A 24 episode anime show on average costs at least $7 million to make; a 12 episode anime costs on average costs $3.6 million on average; one of those short more of ona or ova shows that are six episodes costs only on average $1.8 million; a movie would cost about $1.2 million.

I have been on the anime scene to see this as a matter of little concern. Even before crowdfunding that was common, with studios being so desperate they felt no shame of creating some total trainwrecks which are barely remembered nowadays.
We will need to sift through a lot more garbage nowadays than before, but as long as nothing is forbidden, we will be able to find what we love.
I am more concerned about busybodies trying to censor content and people trying to control the content of already existing brands rather than people making new, but low quality stuff.

I would go into a very very long explanation of why mobile gaming went to shit and never recovered, but to make it extremely short: while there is a large market for cellphone games cellphones just aren't designed to play games. There's also how because they try to squeeze out as much performance it makes coding a absolute cluster fuck. There's also the peripheral problem.

Once the current stupidity going with pc gaming subsides realistically what is going to happen is we won't see the companies doing scummy tactics all of a sudden care about making good games; more realistically they're not going to do stupid shit like p2w, lootboxes, spyware in games, etc, etc, etc. Realistically those companies are still going to be around, rather more realistically they're going to make a bunch of games that take all of a month to make. A lot of companies are currently being caught in a ever increasingly spiral of trying to race to the lowest sticker price to try and keep up sales; however this isn't a good business model.

Current shit, "for $5 you can have the super shotgun 5000 in our early access $60 game!"
Future shit, "for $5 you can buy our prop hunt standalone game with a grand total of 1 map"

Also, 95% of all mobile game "sales" are actually pirated.
Not joking.

With that name I am not even surprised they side with the evident bully in this case just because she made a style issue into a gendered issue. These people are obsessed with their ideology to the point of applying it even when it is not even close to be related.
Now. i won't deny I might sometimes make the same mistake, but when people point I made it, I try to avoid doing so later on.
Whatever, soon we will see a new period in which people, noticing the low profit these people produce, will end up blacklisting them. They played themselves.

Well, Forbes did an article on Totalbiscuit, expect it to get many people, right and left, moderate pro- or anti- gamergate, banding together to get pretty mad.

I will not link it since it doesn't deserve the views for it and giving it views means that it gets money from ads and thus it wins. It will likely be on many gaming youtubers thing soon.

I will just leave this quote of post from Kiwifarms to get across how bad it is

"While I wasn't the biggest fan of TB, the man suffered a horrible, degrading death. He deserves at least some respect. If you don't want to respect him than just keep your fucking mouth shut.

This article is fucking disgusting on every level and should have never gotten past editorial. That is if the joke of the online Forbes even had an editor. All this ever came down to was words. They were just fucking words on a screen.

Also Boogie is a stupid fat greedy fuck who only cares about money and is a huge piece of shit. Fuck boogie.

I will tell you why journos and these C-, barely graduating English majors are so salty: because a single word from him carried more weight than the entirety of their careers. They don't care about gamergate. They don't care about his opinions.

He could release a five minute video and a minute later that game would be topping (or bottoming) the steam charts. TB MADE companies with his videos. Indies have said they wouldn't exist without him. People in the industry legit cried over his death. Because he carried such heavy influence.

No gaming journalist has ever or will ever carry the amount of influence TB had. Like him or hate him, he moved mountains in a multi billion dollar industry.

You think if Ben Kuchera suddenly suffocated on his soy and cum latte, the industry would be affected in any meaningful way, except losing a source of comedy? No.

That's why they disrespect him even in death and dance over his grave. Because they are jealous and will never, ever have the influence he had. "

Gamergate is trending again…

About this Reddit shutdown incident, it's fairly notable that the user who shut down the forum thanked the activist group Indivisible and Google. This Google.

Did things get really uncivil in the Gamergate page or did the mods and admin shut down the commenting for a while out of fear of people going nuts on each other if they left it open for too long?

Huh, I thought it would take more than one mod to close down a comment section.

You know, like a voting to do so if the comment section isn't out of control yet.

Yeah gamergate thread got nuked, no more comments and was forced off trending
There wasn't much discourse in the comments and it was pretty civil, but the mod that did it particularly hated it

I imagine there is going to be a lot of arguing between the Mods, admins, and the community about that.

Doubt it, you’ve seen the shit they post on the front page

Daily reminder that the only reason the GamerGate article stopped trending in the first place was because the mods were getting triggered over it and put in special rules to prevent it from ever showing up on the trending bar.

Meanwhile the reason it trended right now is that the article got front-paged.

So mods lock the entry just to MAKE IT STOP TRENDING? There are other ways to do this. For an example, just making it not appear in trending.

I propose demodding modders that do unpopular locks.

You are all misremembering the locking of the GamerGate comments hugely. The reason it was locked in the first place was because people were using it like a Gamergate Chat-board/ Base of operations and were talking about shit that had nothing to do with the entry, where performing witch hunts on users and causing all kinds of drama. If it wasn't for the 1338 pages of comments, I'd link the comments that led up to Gamergate having special rules. I remember that the first comment made after getting unlocked was an off-topic comment about an actor playing Superman. It wasn't cause the mods hated it, they hated for months before the lock and did nothing, it was locked because it turned into an off-topic pit of vile.

It wasn’t going off topic though
mostly people just asking what had dragged the name up again

Such measures can be dangerous though as this leaves the site vulnerable to raids. Basically, want a topic locked? Then raid the entry, posting unrelated comments or comments that break the rules.

I'm talking about the first locking, which led to this thread's creation in the first place, and why the mods are super jumpy when it comes to the Gamergate entry.

Evilthing wrote:

Raids are easy to stop. The Gamergate shit was going on for months before action was taken, it wasn't a raid.

Well, I can sort of see why the mods would be jumpy at Gamergate being open beyond the forums for discussion.

Like kiwifarms enjoys it when either sides' lolcows, trolls or loons come to a civil discussion when they see one and derail it so hard from a civil discussion that you'd swear that a riot and looting spree happened. Sort of like lights eventually drawing moths and other insects towards and inside a house.

I still find it rather hilarious that just the act of commenting in the comments section (when unlocked) is what causes the article to trend. So all those comments of "why won't this die?" Actually keep it alive.

So until people stop posting in the comments section at all, it will contine to be in the trending bar.

So Valve is temporarily disabling lewd games, but rumor mill is to allow a filter for nsfw stuff. Why do I think they might be doing this? It's projected that lewd anime games will be a multi billion dollar industry in ten years. Money

This is strange given their latest statements, which have been applauded by many former GG supporters such as Veeh. But what worries me the most is that many developers would be scared away by this. I know from a reliable source many of them fear the impact of policy changes in their games and subsequent impact in their lives.
Many developers producing erotic content are somewhat small and do not make millions out of it unlike triple A devs. One sale less could compromise their entire career. That is painful to me as an independent creator.
If they can't make a profit they could literally starve in some cases and in others they would at least need to quit their dev career, and that would mean a great loss in many cases because even without erotic content they are good enough.

USC Professor's Diversity Research Group Rebrands as Annenberg Inclusion Initiative

Paul Feig, Nina Jacobson and 50 A-Listers Reveal New Campaign to Tackle Hollywood Gender Inequality

The organizer Stacy Smith is the same professor whose research said that Hollywood excludes LGBT people, and who had this notorious quote:

"The prequel to OscarsSoWhite is HollywoodSoWhite," said Stacy L. Smith, a USC professor and one of the study's authors…

There absolutely is gender discrimination in Hollywood where they see women as disposable sex toys, but this group links together several cringey "diversity" disasters coming out of tinsel town: Feminist Frequency (Harnisch and Zehner), Shitty Feminist Ghostbusters (Paul Feig), the HollywoodSoWhite campaign, and possibly Phil Fish's Giant Fucking Racketeering Scandal where one of the festival organizers came out of USC. Also worth noting is that the group includes partners in WME, the company of Rahm Emanuel's brother Ari Emanuel.

Also, from 2015: The Hollywood gender discrimination investigation is on: EEOC contacts women directors. Stacy Smith sent her research to the ACLU, which sent it to the EEOC, which came back and ordered Hollywood to change the diversity numbers, so this group is backed by the federal government.

I'm going to throw up.

Also, has media by now actually made valid proof that GamerGate is a harassment group and do they have examples to back it up?

They have quotes from other media quoting other media quoting paid PR operatives who were paid to say that it is a harassment group. That's the same thing, right? If that's not enough, Wikipedia says it's a harassment group and there was no collusion and they should know because Wikipedia staff are friends with Jon McIntosh and all those people.

When was the last time it happened? Also, what would happen if both sides would send mobs in if they'd cave in to other side?

Recently I began to consider that. I have noticed the ons calling GG a harassment campaign are actively harassing people and making everyone bend before them. But the silent majority even refuses to use the same tactic against those who harm them.
Maybe, just maybe, we are too soft.

Evilthing wrote:

Notch makes fun of GOG's 'apology'

Also, I have a question. If mainstream media outlets were forced to ask if they want GamerGate to be a campaign about harassment or a campaign about uncovering unethical journalistic practices, how would they respond?

We all know media outlets would rather have a harassment campaign harming people which they can latch on for attention than a group of people wanting to do what they believe is right.
They want evil because they profit from it. They gain audience from it, direct ideology from it, control people through it. They want evil because deep inside they are evil and need a devil to justify their acts, just like the Spanish Inquisition did.

I kind of saw this coming. Apparently we're starting to see a lot of $5 games. I posted about this a while ago, but a lot of companies are trying to reduce the cost of their games as much as humanly possible. Because Steam no longer has quality control we've seen a lot of shovelware and shit. Anyway we probably are reaching the bottom of "the race to zero".

This is going to be a lot of personal opinion, but I think people are starting to figure out how to have a low budget game that is alright. I've played a couple of even $3 games that were good, the reason why up until recently such low budget games for the most part weren't good is that they only really work if you have someone who actually knows what they're doing heading it.

I will say this: when this phase finally bottoms out don't expect a lot out of the games. 90% of the games that are in the five dollar range that are good tend to be shorter games and such. Also some people probably won't be happy, but most of them obviously are cartoony because having hyper realistic graphics for a $5 isn't realistic.

Meanwhile, some ethics stuff:

Sarah Jeong (New York Times) defended the Rolling Stone UVA gang rape hoax after its unraveling, race-baited both critics and the accused.

And New York times hired Sarah while firing a more ethical journalist because that journalist's views were different

Also

Matthew Barbour (Daily Mirror), who recently wrote 'Fortnite made me a suicidal drug addict' and was exposed on Twitter as a journalist who had previously solicited sources with offers of payment for negative Pokemon Go stories – well, it seems that's not the first time he's done it.

What can we say about those two cases?

I am guessing NYT is hasn't actually done anything other than make themselves look bad with the hiring of an actual racist but I don't read them anyway and all the daily mirror did is lose some credibility (assuming it had any) but no one seems to be taking them seriously

TL;DR traditional media sites continue to lose credibility to the surprise to no one

So the Honey Baders lost their case (kia link) after 3 years of trying to get it to court.

According to mundane matt, the Judge ruled rather quicky and denounced the badgers for being involved with gamergate, citing that gamergate was a confirmed harassment campaign against women according to tge FBI.

Which is odd because the report stated the opposite.

As a result, the badgers are trying to appeal to expose corruption in the Canadian Court system, as the ruling is in favor of corruption than against.

Well seeing as how it would seem that the judge basically admitted that their rulings was not out of legal precedent nor based on law but rather personal bias such comments do only give more credence that they were not given a fair trial and that the judge was not impartial so hopefully the appeal goes through especially if Canada wants its laws to be respected.

Canada is having it hard recently. If I remember well, Trudeau was accused of sexual abuse, which means the public image of their government is taking too many hits at once.

Is purposefully ignoring all the evidence and not allowing defendant to present evidence a crime worthy of jail in Canada?

Do you think that names of those judges should be publicized?

You can blame Trudeau for that. He said on TV that gamergate was a hate movement. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Judge gets away with it because the PM did it.

Much as I find GG to be dead and dumb stuff for a good while, I can't help but find it funny some people still cling to it, an example being the sloth who is claiming that GG was a shill for big game devs (proof of shilling, please) and on the other side, a man who kept making some alt accounts to evade bans so he could complain about something in video games in how women appear.

The idea of GamerGate just being screeching in video games, either over ethics or harassment, can't really stay in that spot. Not when people still cling to it and think anyone outside of the echo chambers care.

Really though, I'm just going to use these words from Kiwi Farms to sum the watch dog bit, even if one doesn't agree with Kiwi Fams:

Video game fans are already their own watchdog group. If deceptive, aggressive or idiotic business practises are used, you'll find a lot of sperging about it. Who do you think got EA voted as America's worst company multiple times? The real concern should be for casuals spending thousands on FIFA Ultimate Team or some shitty mobile game. Those people have never heard about Gamergate.

This happens on the rare occasions AntiGamer remembers they're supposed to pretend to be anything other than establishment bootlickers who hate video games.

They hate video games, they hate gamers, they love unaccountable & arbitrary power, they love zero-effort profiteering. It's only natural they endorse lootboxes and every other shit thing the likes of EA pull.
