Considering I am a pundit, and an artist… I should be waiting for my own Kiwifarms article. lol.
Jokes aside. Sargon needs to put his shit together. Fortunately, despite addressing the issue poorly, he addresses it and avoids denial of facts compared to others. His "friends" of course might not help him, since they… Well. Not everyone has supportive friends as some of us might do. He doesn't.

Only if you do something immensely dumb or if they notice something really fishy about you, so you should be safe and generally, they will just record what you've done and said but won't poke you. Like Jim has his own thread on lolcows, and Kiwifarms is kind of waiting to see if he goes lolcow or not since some people they heavily agreed were not lolcows at first, like Boogie, Matt and Sargon did go lolcow. And what xTSGx says is true, if their own members cause shit they're getting a thread, doxed, banned or whatever ever other punishment they see fit to hand them out.

As for Sargon, I got a feeling he is going to be salty at what happened even if he does maybe begrudgingly apologizes for it and admitted that he fucked up. Like if he is smart as he lets himself on to be, then he has to have the realisation that he just did what Anita could not do in three days and probably more some. Like the fact that he discussed age of consent in a livestream and all that is being brought up recently because of all this is a terrible thing for him at the moment since he is trying to be apart of UKIP, as in the group that helped expose the Rotherham grooming gangs or at least rubbed it into Labour's face at how incompetent they were to deal with it and whose voter base is pretty old. I would not be surprised if they get the torches and pitchforks ready for him if they even hear a rumour, truth or lie about it, and probably will have no qualms about doing that since he hasn't made many friends in the UKIP who would defend his ass.

So steam's first uncensored game got banned in 28 countries.

Also 16 countries' gambling commissions are now investigating lootboxes as gambling. Several countries in Europe are thinking about criminal charges for EA.

It is amazing how EA got themselves into that mess.

Like not even the usual suspects of lootboxes decided that it was not a fight worth fighting for.

Then again, those lootboxes and microtransactions are their life's blood since they've pretty much reduced their net of games heavily to just a handful of new releases if not genres. So it could effectively cripple EA immensely, and it all could've been avoided if EA cut its loses in Belgium. I think it is the one time that I've seen usually anti-government gamers actually have little to no issue with the governments baring down on gaming since the like of EA and Activision have kind of pushed it way too far with their customers that I can't imagine many gamers or that would side with the likes of 2K, EA or Activision.

28 countries. 28 countries that should be nuked.

Well unbelievably, one of those countries is Japan.

Yes, I shit you not, Japan has banned the game for steam sales. Then again, they were always kind of into heavy censorship of porn or at least certain things in it, like genitals and pubic hair. Hence why tentacle porn was a big thing in Japan since it looks like a penis or gets the idea across while not setting off the censorship.

Like despite the common depiction of Japan being a place for perverts, it is quite prudish when it comes to the entertainment where the creators do have to play skip around the law.

And the other countries are no surprise since a good many of them have laws against porn for a variety of reasons, which makes me smack my face when I've seen some idiots that say it is the SJWs' fault despite Ukraine, Belarus, Japan and Russia in there. Like do many people understand that three of those countries are pretty conservative and have strong religious Christian base that frowns heavily on porn?

There is also the Icelanders who explain the whole porn law they got https://www.reddit.com/r/Iceland/comments/2kew1b/what_happened_to_icelands_plan_to_ban_pornography/ which involves either liberal or conservatives getting into silly antics I think. And their laws against porn go back to 1940 in article 210 of sexual offences http://www.wipo.int/wipolex/en/text.jsp?file_id=190914#LinkTarget_1094 (US and UK media love to make a big deal out of Iceland despite it being a country that minds its own business, sort of feels like shouting and mocking the quiet next door neighbour)

The Middle Eastern ones, Asian and African ones are not surprising since the last time I remember they're pretty damn religious, and most religions are prudes.

And of course, I don't think I need to say much that Germany and Australia have always been weird fuckers when it came to censorship of any adult material and that goes far before the SJWs, although both left and right figures in either country have always said it was to protect the "moral decency" of the public and the children.

Although I might need to correct myself or someone else does about China and a few of the places like Russia that are used to having very restrictive governments as well as other factors that play into them censoring porn or any adult material.

Logically I was hyperbolic. But I do think prude politicians should be executed on site.
Prudes have no place in lawmaking because they will just push for their own worldview and rape others with it (Figuratively).
And I know well Japan has been dealing with censorship issues. In fact even worse since the arrival of Western influences. One example of that is that artists constantly protest against the government as well as the UN for attempts at censorship and that most pornographic content is kept away from big companies or the public eye for the sake of avoiding it.
Most Japanese pornographic content is made and sold through independent venues in an informal market. Even non pornographic but contentious material which used to be legal in the 90s is sold through underground means now. #WatsukiDidNothingWrong

I think that is going overboard with the prude politicians and no place in lawmaking even if figuratively speaking. That said, I think everyone is of the opinion of asking them to chill out once in a while and not turn the law into a bat that hits bad and good things indiscriminately as Neil Gaiman describes here http://journal.neilgaiman.com/2008/12/why-defend-freedom-of-icky-speech.html

I am not surprised since Japan wanted to see if they'd get the same success as the West had, which is stuff like Naval warfare it worked wonders if the War with Russian in the early part of the 20th century was anything to go by. Then again, the West at the time they were taking on some of those ideas was the 19th century which is one of the centuries where it gets really weird with sex and the ideas about it.

And course it is also that century where John Harvey Kelloggs, creator of the cereal and head of the anti-masturbation movement tried solving masturbation through circumcision (if he didn't suggest a threading wire through the foreskin) for the boys and applying carbolic acid for the girls and other methods like electricity and corn flakes.

In regards to KiwiFarms and lolcow threads (since I'm not really familiar with Sargon aside from him having drama with Jim and even getting a Kiwi Farms thread), iirc the site has a proving grounds. If one were to fear they get some KF thread, the thread they got on the Farms would have to go through a proving grounds where one would have to show proof that one is a lolcow. Even then, there's also the fact that a thread can pretty much end up becoming dead if the lolcow in question either turned out to not really be a cow. More so if said thread was just some personal army request. That sort of thing would get its OP mocked.

In regards Steam and its first adult game to be banned in many countries, I will say this in regards to the whole of Steam allowing adult games on their platform: beyond some countries banning adult games, Gaben would no doubt open up a possible gate for more shovelware. One can expect terrible asset swapped hentai games and shovelware with anime boobs.

It's funny watching them salivate over the possible dox of him, only to grudgingly accept defeat when he once again proves to be a master at anonymity and wiping away his past mistakes. And, given how many enemies he's made over the years, he really is a master if no one's been able to pull it off yet.

That's their fault for not making fun games. EA went thirty years without relying on microtransactions and gambling and did just fine. The "AAA video games can't exist without microtransactions" argument really baffles me. Really? They existed just fine for forty years without them. Companies and consumers have forgotten a game's supposed to be fun. They've become too focused on getting their money's worth out of their $800.00 video card to realize that in the best games, you're too busy playing the game and having fun to notice the water rendering, building textures, or skybox.

I really feel sorry for Trip Hawkins, though. The guy builds a company devoted to not screwing over developers, makes fantastic third party games, then becomes big enough to get taken over by executives and businessmen, before his console dream is betrayed by the monster he created. Then the monster proceeds to make fucking over developers an art form rivaled only by Konami.

Western notions of sexuality come from the idea that sex is wrong. That is the core of it.
With that said. I do think politicians who harm the public should be executed because that is how traitors used to be treated before crime became the core of politics.
A prudish politician is a traitor to the nation. Any politician that acts against the interests of the nation is.
On the other hand, an absolute ban on all thing sexual would be a fascinating thing to watch. The eventual violent uprising resulting from it would make any other war look cute in comparison.

Well, it isn't just the West, most notions of sex is wrong tends to come from a lot of faiths, mostly in dealing with real and/or perceived excess although they as no-one is surprised to go overboard on it sometimes.

And many prudish politicians do act for the interest of some of the people of a nation, often the parts that are apart of religions that frown upon sex and any perceived or real problems of excesses of it while often handling them pretty badly.

Although outright ban all things sexual nationwide tend to require a lot of effort and often goes in a dictatorship or cult-like manner since it requires some mighty convincing to get people on board with it. And of course, these can often come with corruption and plenty of hypocrisy.

Now that you bring that up, it is pretty inevitable since Steam's track record of dealing with rather shitty developers on their system is as Jim often says very bad.

Like Steam greenlight and early access are kind of proof that they're terrible at quality control.

As one kiwifarmer put it, he is a greybeard, he has been here since near the start of the internet for the public and knows how to hide very well. It is more likely possibility that he will be on deathbed when he reveals his identity just for one final fuck you laugh.

Well, it is something I noticed that they've been reducing their game releases down to the most profitable stuff and cutting corners for them or trying to make games into money makers like COD, Sims or FIFA. Hell, they chased trend afte trend after trend like a dog chasing a car. Now they're at a point where they've wasted customers' trust and patience with them, and who are now striking back at them by hitting them in their wallets and they're too stubborn and clueless to see that the gig is up with their loot boxes and microtransactions after that shit they tried to pull with their games since Star Wars Battlefront 2 where they did the one thing that broke the rule of defending loot boxes: they should not affect gameplay or be Pay-2-win.

And that is the irony with EA and Activision, they were born from devs trying to get good pay and credit for their work since Atari. Hell, Atari were bigger bastards than both of them and Konami combined and slightly outdid old Nintendo who were so infamous back then for being giant greedy assholes to third-party developers that most of them fucking booked it when the PS 1 was made by Sony and reduce Nintendo to a former shadow of itself even to this day.

In regards to the ban, it is the opposite. No one should be on board with it but the most prudish, corrupt, and/or hypocritical bastards. That is the idea. In the theoretical case that they managed to achieve such an act, everyone would riot. It would cause the end of society as we know it, and maybe even the literal execution of many politicians. Such a wide, arbitrary, and vile prohibition of humanity's crucial function would lead to a collapse which this decaying society needs.

According to the feed he apparently is not an SJW. Apparently he was not very stable and was basically an idiot. This is not quite like the Anti-GG male feminists who say something stupid but are later found to be some creepy or terrible person. I do hope he gets help.

Wew. Probably won't be long before one might say the GamerGate reddit that is Kotaku In Action should be shut down because it was founded by a pedophile. I'm sure out there is an individual that would think that such as maybe some users of KiA's opposite, GamerGhazi. Whelp, so long Linux and thus all builds associated

From what I gather, Linus of Linux stepped down as Head of lhe Linux project because he was convinced the community wasn't "being excellent to each other" so now the new head had a new code of conduct implemented designed to be more "inclusive" meaning any member could be removed from the platform for any reason. (Cough being a specific demographic cough)

As a result the Kernel developers are threatening to jump ship with their source code which could break several companies that rely on open source or modified open source software. (Android comes to mind)

Believe it or not, this is great news. Once the collapse takes place, no one will want to associate with SJWs again, because they crush projects under the weight of their ill intent.

Okay, I misunderstood what was going on when I first heard this news. I thought that the "new" Linux was using the threat of removing their code to force other companies to comply with the Code of Conflict crap. But no, the people who are actually responsible for creating the kernel codes are preparing to abandon ship and take their code with them because they can see that the new captain is possessed.

This is much better. I agree with Alarkoz. Hopefully this will help with the continued ousting and rejection of SJW/leftist ideologies and practices in the workplace and society in general.

I'm genuinely amazed that this thread is still alive. Is GamerGate itself even still a thing anymore? This thread mostly looks like general gaming industry discussion with the occasional rant about The Goddamn EsJayDoubleyews.

Maybe consider a name change?

Arguably a fair point, but no. That's what GG covered 4 years ago, that's what it still covers now.

To clarify and counterpoint your reasoning, this thread is to discuss topics relevant to the gamergate instance, as a hashtag and reference. As the gamergate frequently gets talked about in revisionist journalism trying to portray the event as an attack on companies women/game developers/publishers/social justice charlatans on fabrication that has no evidence to support the claim. It gets debated and talked about here, due to the frequency of these debates and nature of those that wish to re define gamergate as a horrible attack thats against what they stand for, it comes off as anti social justice.

In short, gamergate and those who support gamergate come off as anti social justice, because supporters of social justice keeps defining gamergate as an enemy without evidence.

So to answer your question: yes gamergate is still a thing because it keeps getting talked about. No the name won't be changed because its the glue that holds these discussions together as a centralized point.

Everything spoken here is somewhat related to gaming in one way or another. In fact the thing about Linux should be a concern for gamers since most gaming companies use Linux at least to run their servers. If a coder breaks a program, the servers of several companies might go down for a while.

It is not a permanent harm to anyone, but it would be a strong wakeup call. Just as if people pulled all their money out of the current banking system, the system would collapse for a while.
But hey, it is not our fault that it is always the same group of people causing trouble to literally everyone else in and out of gaming.

Want a name change? Sure. How about "We are the silent minority and we are tired of you ruining everything we love since 1850s with the damn alcohol prohibition and such and then moving on to screw something else we like after causing black markets, organized crime, and total societal disasters in your campaign against reason."? Do you like it? Because "The Goddamn EsJayDoubleyews" as you say caused Al Capone's crimes with the temperance movement.

Gamergate is about how social authoritarians have damaged the industry of gaming through censorship and corporate corruption, but in general those same groups have been making a mess for over a century if not more.

I'm more in the view that the social authoritarians are sock puppets or rather meat shields by the businesses in the case of the whole Gamergate thing since the video game industry did try to direct people away from how there is plenty of bribery and a unhealthy relationship with video game journalism as well as other anti-consumer and anti-developer practices.

Like people focused more on the politics on sort of both sides of Gamergate than say the business side of stuff like microtransactions, loot boxes, DLC, dishonest reviews as well as cutting down on content with a lot of players, small and big, using either side to whatever benefit they could get out of them.

And now with both sides splintering and fading into smaller groups to most pursue other stuff, there is hardly anything the video game businesses can shield themselves with anymore from criticisms of their products and methods of doing business that their customers and employees hate.

But that's my opinion based on how I have interpreted stuff so far, admittedly it is influenced by what Ross said in this video that makes sense to me

No. They are not puppets or shields. They don't need corporations to endorse them. It has been that way long before any of us was born (Unless any of you was already around in 1830).
The thing is, they thrive in corruption and lies, so crooked companies use them to their benefit in several ways, including creating conflict through them.
Companies like EA use them as cover for their acts because that is an easy tactic, but companies like Marvel do follow their line and fall apart as they do.
Those who pay them for PR are just using them as cover, those who do get "all woke" and actually get them in decision making positions are actually siding with them.
Such people have existed for long enough to get too much influence.

So we're back to this again.

(Seems to me like another case of "I'm not seeing complaints about this issue from people I've blocked, so they must not be complaining about it.")

Cheong's screenshot of the comic reportedly led to backlash against the artist, who deleted their twitter.

As far as I know, anyone who played those games did complain over the issue.

I don't see why they would expect us to talk about this. It has nothing to do with journalism at all. And I've seen some people act callous about it because they didn't like Telltale's business decisions, and/or politics.

Looks like Know Your Meme is being accused of having false information on Chelsea "Zoe Quinn" VanValkenberg according to Zoe 'let me change my twitter handle again' Quinn.

For stating facts.

The mind boggles

Because truly everyone that comes to Know Your Meme reads the GG article and all its related content. The only GG related thing that even goes on in this thread and some of us just come here to see what sort of spergings there are in regards to video games.

To Alarkoz: The only relevancy Zoe has is being a Twitter user who milks likes from all her followers. Anything else is its own story.

In regards to that comic, I remember showing it on the discord a buddy of mine ran, he and a couple other guys said "who even gets mad at women in video games" and "does anyone even get mad in playing as women and video games". The same buddy also went a little extra to take a jab at some of the authors work in how it was all just straw man fallacy. It's also funny the comic tries to go "take that gamers" when I remember there are people who really didn't like what was happening to TellTale, even more so with the employees that got screwed over pay and getting fired and the like.

Boy Gamergate is being involved with Brett Kavanaugh

It reaches peak stupid when looking at Twitter. I can remember one saying alt-right gamergaters were a threat to democracy, another saying it wasn't just harassing women but also protecting the hegemony of white males in power in the industry, to another going "I told you so". The whole thing sounds so stupid it's making me see more of the logic behind a friend's thoughts on people still thinking GamerGate is relevant in 2018 (and he could count people on both sides if one thinks he only meant one side).

Oh does this mean she'll get a second meeting at the United Nations? XD

Eeeeyyyy Gamergate is alive again.

Activision pissed off diablo fans by announcing Diablo Immortal for Mobile, with no plans for PC at Blizzcon.

And were booed at thier own event.

Now their release trailers are at an over 1:100 dislike ratio and the games media are cranking out articles telling the core fanbase to deal with it:

People have been pointing out that Diablo Immortal is a reskin of a existing F2P mobile game called Crusaders of Light.
Has Blizzard reach peak laziness?

That makes it even more sensible to complain. It's a reskin of a game that's "play-to-win", of course it's understandable to think this game is like a scam. I don't know if the press is shilling for the game, but that theory gets a little more attractive.

This totally won't backfire at all:

Surely those gamers and all must be misogynist entitled manbabies for not liking mobile games. Real talk: Blizzard would likely save some face if they did what Bethesda had done with Fallout Shelter. That said, no one really asked for a mobile Diablo game, especially when mobile games are synonymous with ads, pay 2 win, and play stores filled garbage reskins and the like.

They're still shilling for the game even when they admit the game plays terribly.

"Diablo Immortal Is A Simplified Diablo--Maybe Too Simplified"- Kotaku

They just can't resist those activision advertising bucks so they gotta blame gamers even though they know the gamers are right.

In addition: for those of us who don't know what makes gamers so mad about diablo on mobile… a little history lesson. Diablo 1 had a lot of hardcore features and mechanics. Diablo 2 expanded on those hardcore features and mechanics. Diablo 3 simplified the mechanics to near uselessness (you can beat the game by walking forward and pressing the attack button, no real tactics or gear planning required except maybe on the hardest of the hard difficulty and even then only in very specific battles). Diablo 3 was not well received by Diablo fans due it being too lazy and uninteresting. SO here comes the new diablo game and its a mobile game that will clearly lack any interesting mechanics and isn't even on PC where the majority of the fanbase is.

Sorry for the double post but there's something brewing in the Reddit-sphere now that it's the night before the big election.

This reddit discussion in r/againsthatesubreddits does it best to prove a fringe instance of a singular user to prove that the entire subreddit of KiA is an Alt right recruiting ground. Normally, this would be ignored, but it's on the first page of r/all under trending.

It reads like a hit and looks like a call to action in trying to get KiA shut down. Like the last time with one of the admins of KiA going off the rails.

To sum up: The opinion of the subreddit is "Hategroup founder upvotes KiA threads. THEREFORE KiA MUST be an ALT RIGHT RECRUITING GROUND and NEEDS TO BE STOPPED because of ONE PERSON."

Can someone archive this? I feel like these bad leaps in logic need to be screencapped for counterpoints and fallacies.

Oh and the subsequent echo chamber trying to redefine Gamergate, this time as a recruiting tool of the ALT RIGHT. Instead of… that consumer revolt that's getting upset over cash grab business practices.

I get the same vibe reading that sub as you would get from browsing an alex jones fan board. Lots of crazies with demeaning attitudes and no attempts at empathy passing buzzwords around to make their statements feel less crazy. Cryptofascism being about as believeable as lizardmen and weather control.
