Banana Man (Tally Hall Song) is a song featured on Tally Hall's album "Complete Demos", which was released in November 11th, 2004[1]. It was also featured on their album "Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum", which was released on October 24th, 2005.[2] The song has been a source of fan music videos, as well as song covers from parody groups such as SiIvaGunner and TimmyTurnersGrandDad.

Origin

A music video was made for the song when it was released on the "Complete Demos" album. On March 6th, 2005, the music video was uploaded to Albino Blacksheep in QuickTime format, which caused the song and the group itself to gain in popularity.[3][4] It was first uploaded to YouTube by Tally Hall on September 18th, 2006.[5] Then on May 24th, 2010, the music video was re-uploaded to YouTube by Tally Hall in higher quality, where it's received over 3.7 million views (shown below).[6]

Spread

On July 29th, 2018, LevelTwoDemopan posted a fan music video of the song using Team Fortress 2 characters in Source Filmmaker. The video (shown below, left) received over 24,000 views in over four years. On March 30th, 2019, Blackie Sootfur posted an animated music video of the song to YouTube. The video (shown below, right) received over 802,000 views in over three years.

On June 6th, 2020, Poolbranch posted an animated music video of the song to YouTube. The video (shown below) received over 68,000 views in over two years. On April 25th, 2021, Frog Man posted a fan music video of the song using Trollface. The video (shown below, right) received over 127,000 views in over one year.

Kitsune² Cover

In September 23rd, 2009, chiptune artist Kitsune² released a cover of the song on the album "Star Road".[7][8] On October 18th, 2012, the cover was uploaded to YouTube by LapfoxUnofficial, where it's received over 3,000 views (shown below, left).[9] This cover became a popular music source for YTPMVs (example shown below, right).
