I don't think anyone is falling for kotaku's bullshit then again its kinda hard to give them any sympathy when they so innocently describe how they perform industrial sabotage.

@Lenny Guy
You forgot to advertise your patreon for victimbux and then two posts later say you're going bankrupt and its everyone else's fault that they don't care about art and the future of the industry to pay you money you never earned and wouldn't really help the industry anyway.

Yeah, plus there's tons of people leaving the industry and I keep a folder of them even though I won't ever show it, and I've just been swatted even though the only proof I have of it is a towing ticket from 3 months ago.

Turns out Kotaku has been blacklisted by Ubisoft and Bethesda. But it's totally not Kotaku's fault guys! It's not their fault that they disclosed information on the then unannounced Fallout 4 and Assassin's Creed Syndicate, posting leaked information that was never meant to make it to public eyes. It's not their fault guys! Accept their apology now!

So Boogie2988 has been blacklisted by Kotaku for not towing the line on the Gamergate is harrassment narrative.

Jason Schreier of Kotaku proceeds to call Boogie a liar for saying this.

This comes right on the heels of Kotaku complaining they are being blacklisted by game companies. My feelings on the subject.

Now Kotaku has a shit ton of Boogie fans attacking Kotaku… even the ones who didn't give a shit about GG before.

Down the rabbit hole we go, my children.

Was going to add this to my previous post, but it was too late to edit.

Proof that Jason Schreier had given Boogie a directive on Gamergate, and Boogie refused to follow it

Say guys what is 4chan opinion on gamergate?

Depends. You're asking about an entire forum, composed of a loooooot of different people.

Besides, 4chan usually takes whichever side will piss off more people, regardless of what it is. That would pretty much split them down the middle, although I've heard there are a lot of GGers there.

I see. is it true that 4chan banned people to talk about GamerGate?

Some of the mods had banned GG threads early on, although I'm not sure if they still do it now. I never go on 4chan, so I can't verify recent events there. I only know of the original censorship by the mods there because of it being reported by a lot of 4channers on the KYM Gamergate article about a year ago.

Yes. Encyclopedia Dramatica has more.

KYM also has some images here.

Edit: Jerry "Tycho Brahe" Holkins has had enough of Kotaku's shit. You can actually see the point he decided "fuck it" and started going for the throat.

> I can understand why a publisher might determine that an increasingly hostile outlet whose business model is “Start Shit” might not be the best time or money investment.

> Why would you be obligated to spend millions of dollars on something and then place it gently on the black altar of a hivemind cult, bowing as you retreat?

> Having been the cowering creature beneath enthusiast media’s Eye of Sauron on more than one occasion, the object of their tender ministrations, their ostensible populism and their eerily synchronized perspective, I have no sympathy for these creatures.

> You may feel very confident that there are conversations at every publisher now, wondering to what extent they are required to eat shit from these people.

P.S. The American Tanker asked me to give a message: "Hi! I've been on the side of #GamerGate since the beginning".

Your opposition is making big deals out of nothing not to mention harassing some of your supporters while you guys, at least through my eyes, have done absolutely nothing in the past month. You guys for the most part have done your job, now all you have to do is just be a reactionary media watchdog, pointing out any unethical conduct when it happens, but no, you need to go after the "SJWs" as well, so you still need to stay relevant, which in my opinion is just not worth it. Keep in mind, I still support this movement, but not with the attitude I had more than a year ago. And frankly I think he made a good point comparing this to a big schoolyard squabble, because it kind of is.

I'm most likely going to get downvoted for this, but these are just my thoughts.

I totally understand you (dear GOD, do I ever), but you need to understand that Gamergate isn't really an Anti-SJW movement no matter how much we want it to be…

…Which is why you instead should find another movement elsewhere that is.
Somewhere out there is an Anti-PC group that you're looking for. You just have to find it…

Even the KIA mods have admitted that "ethics in video game journalism" is just a tiny part of what we do, and that "ethical journalism" & "protecting vidya" still doesn't cover everything.

But Gaters should always remember the core of this fight.
We want them to stop pushing their ideology in our games and want journalism that is on the consumer side.
Many people are AntiSJW and decide to join Gamer Gate, just to fight this people.
Lets not forget that being against SJW, does not mean one is AntiSJW or believe the opposite.
Also it finally happened, no more DOA in the west?.

Hmmm gee I wonder what a japanese developer that you constantly shame and call misogynist (or a supporter of misogyny) would mean when he says that he won't be releasing a game due to how the west keeps talking about treating females in the video game industry. Gee I wonder what hand kotaku had in that or any of the media that aren't supposed to be collaborating as that would constitute a monopoly?

Really no organized protest? None? Because I just posted the same pic. And it shows that clear as day.

Now, about the Zoe Quinn movie:

It was only optioned to be produced into a movie. That doesn't mean it'll actually get made.

Hollywood is littered with the corpses of movies never made. Some of them would've probably been good, but some are just awful (look up the unmade rough draft for the Watchmen movie from 1989. It's fucking hilarious).

Douglas Adams said that the process of Hollywood film-making was "like trying to grill a steak by having a succession of people coming into the room and breathing on it". If it does get made, it'll probably be after the shitstorm passes (and, hopefully, millions of rewrites) before reaching its final fate of late-night filler on cable and 45% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Or becoming forgotten, then rediscovered as the gamer version of Reefer Madness.

Are you sure it's optioned? This entry says the movie will be published on September 2016.

Good news everyone! The BBC has posted a new article admitting prior poor coverage regarding topics related to abuse against women online.

Oh, wait a second, that's what a news group with standards would do. Instead, they've posted an article claiming that 95% of all "aggressive and denigrating behaviour" online is at women. Also, women are 27 times more likely to be abused online than men and 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced violence in some form. Where did they get this information? The UN of course! That august body, that shining bastion of human decency and proper research that is in no way so poorly cited they had to remove the article regarding their most recent work. Not that the article points to any one piece of work of course, can't have those nasty misogynists in goobergate scrutinising this.

More serious part here: This entire piece is pathetic. Virtually every stat given seems entirely made up. My old maths teacher used to say that you can prove anything with statistics when explaining how much he hated them but even he would say that these seem entirely made up. 95% of all online abuse? Women are 27 times more likely to be abused? Hell, the only stat I'd say was not massively inflated is the 1 in 3 women have experienced violence in some form worldwide which is just such a laughable thing to say. How do they define "violence in some form?" That definition is so poor I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Not to mention they once again show a complete lack of research by citing LW as a voice against technology-related violence (and isn't that a completely awful term, after all, tying a rock to a stick count's as tech in its most basic state) and of course they try to get in another "gamergate is misogynistic" line in.

Why do I have to give money to these hacks?

Oh, and link to the article here. I'd give an archive link instead but archive.is isn't working for me.

scoutception wrote:

Archive because these hacks don't deserve money for making this: https://archive.is/YdOO6

Sadly, due to how the TV license works here in the UK, the BBC makes money every year from anyone who owns a TV, myself included.

And there one to talk about abuse to women and girls when they helped cover up the UK's most prolifent sex offender

Well, they've edited the article now to remove all of the data pretty much. They've still got LW up as a major voice against violence in the tech industry, so I guess they still haven't thought to research their claims yet.

Still don't know where they got their claims from either, although the Escapist thread has posted a pretty good set of data that people might want to check out.

Well here's a blip on the radar:

Tru TV's Adam Ruins everything is doing an episode on Women and Video games.

Now the show cites sources directly in the footage with footnotes (and hyperlinks to that research on the website.) So this could be a neutral approach to the subject of videogame demographics.

That or it's going to be another LaO:SVU.

Huh, any idea when that is coming out?

Oh hey they put it up early. Turns out it's neutral and just a "Why and how" gaming became gendered.

To me it explains how the whole "Gamers against against women" manged to become more than just an idea.

But seriously if people keep doing this, they'll make themselves look like fools and make people less aware of what terrorism actually is. And this by extension ensures that they will not put the effort to understand real-world problems much less how to solve them.

And that's only for people who reject the material presented to them…. because people who accept this material will have even worse results for society.

Well I hope the issue gets resolved or at least some form of closure. Good on you for rechecking your data.

If its fake, then its good that people aren't this stupid (and we have a relevant example of Milo screwing up).
If its true, then we've identified a key problem and a major example of subversion going on at colleges.

Edit: Aw you can only delete post before 30 minutes of it existing. Dang that last post I made is going to look confusing to newcomers.

It wasn't fake, it was just unconfirmed.

Now it looks like it's been confirmed.
