Hatsune Miku's official Twitter / X^[4] account confirmed the collaboration on January 7th, tweeting, "Miku’s backpack is missing, has anybody seen it?" and Fortnite Festival's official page replying, "Finders keepers? Don’t worry, we’ll hold it for you backstage 🤭." The post gathered over 50,000 likes in two days.

On January 4th, 2025, X^[2] user @Llamalaxy posted more details about the Miku Fortnite collaboration. They shared that players should expect two different Miku skins and listed the various accessories she will carry. The post gathered over 16,000 likes in four days.

The X user also theorized about what Miku's two Fortnite skins could be, posting her standard Hatsune Miku model as a possibility the Festival Pass, and a "Neko" Hatsune Miku for the Item Shop.
