Durrr Burger, also known as Fortnite Burger, is an in-game landmark from the video game Fortnite. The design for the "Durrr Burger" has been used as a piece of viral marketing for the game as well as the basis for a ironic image macro. In September 2019, fortniteburger.net shock site gained notoriety online.

Origin

The video game Fortnite launched on July 25th, 2017. Within the game's map is a fictitious fast food restaurant known as "Durrr Burger." The logo for the restaurant features an anthropomorphic cheeseburger, featuring human eyes and a tongue (shown below).

On July 5th, 2018, the Durrr Burger location was removed from the map. That day, the Twitter account @FortniteBR tweeted a video of the location disappearing and the caption, "Another one bites the dust… 🍔" The post (shown below) received more than 885 retweets and 5,600 likes in one month.


The following day, a replica of the Durrr Burger was found in the desert in California, United States. Twitter[1] user @selashiloni tweeted, "What…. is this… I’m in the middle of the desert why is this here???" The post (shown below, left) received more than 19,000 retweets and 77,000 likes in one month.

The following day, Twitter[2] user @Dillon_RT tweeted, "This is Agent #3678 who was spotted by me and also @ItsJosshA and @DUSupra at the Durr Burger Site in California. We asked questions and he answered with questions back, what could he be up to? #Fortnite." The tweet seemed confirm that the replica was part of a marketing effort by Fortnite. Within one month, the tweet (shown below, right) received more than 320 retweets and 1,900 likes.

Fortnite Skin

On August 7th, 2018, a group of skins for Fortnite leaked. Among them was a Durrr Burger skin, which included the infamous anthropomorphic burger head. That day, Twitter[3] user @stormshieldone tweeted a picture of the Durrr Burger skin (shown below).

Fortnite Burger McDonald's Prank

On August 3rd, 2018, Redditor [4] Noist_Mugget posted an image macro in the /r/okbuddyretard of a Fortnite character wtih the text "On August 6th, lets all go to McDonald's and ask for the Fornite Burger. The look on the workers face will be awesome!" The post (shown below, left) received more than 4,400 points (99% upvoted) and 100 comments in four days.

Following the initial post, other people posted ironic versions of this meme. Redditor[5] Kaneda99 used the format to change the final part to "ask for all the money in the cash register." The post (shown below, center) received more than 1,000 points (100% upvoted) and 15 comments in less than 24 hours.

On August 6th, Instagram [6] user @salad.snake posted a picture of the McDonald's Big Mac burger with the text, "Yum! This Fortnite burger looks mighty tasty! Thanks, McDonald's!" The post (shown below, right) received more than 15,000 likes in 24 hours.

On August 6th, several Redditors posted videos of people ordering the "Fortnite Burger" on the /r/okbuddyretard subreddit. That day, Redditor skalerz posted a video of a man asking for the burger.[7] The post (shown below) received more than 5,700 points (99% upvoted) and 220 comments in 24 hours.

fortniteburger.net is a shock site that refers the user to a Rule 34 image of Wreck-It Ralph titular character Ralph. The site gained online notoriety in September 2019.
