Have a clip of Donald Trump saying he should put Liz Chaney in front of a firing squad

Even if you hand wring and say "oh, he didn't say she should actually get shot" this is probably one of the most directly insane things I've seen him say.

Holy shit they are loosing it

Are there any conservatives in the thread that can potentially provide their view on why what is happening is /not/ insane? Because everything i'm seeing right now is just comically ridiculous. This is like active electoral sabotage at this point.

Seeing that your comment has quite specifically a 5-5 vote on it, I'd say you have your answer, in a way.

It's a bit shocking to see the amount of blatant events interference & violent incidents with this American election, one could even say it's gone from how even flawed democracies operate to hybrid regimes like Turkey & Georgia do it with how blatant it's become. Who knows, maybe they're the ones who need electoral watchdogs now.

This hit in legitimacy is going to hurt the "conservatives" as well in the end. Unless, it's purposefully intended to de-legitimatize, because I wouldn't put it past the American Right & Christian Nationalists with recent rhetoric. The Russian strategy of having constant scandals to cause apathy is well-known and replicated (you can see it in how Hungary went down).

Speaking of Russian affiliates:

Hungary taunts Western allies: We’ll talk to whoever we want

Just another event in a long-line of Orban's Hungary behaviour, not that they have anything else going for them at this point, since they've been frozen from groups and interactions with NATO & the EU (apart from the CPAC with the American Right).

Hungary’s Economy Plunges Into Recession on Industry Downturn

NATO says North Korean troops deployed to Russia's Kursk region

Vladimir Putin signals North Korean troops are in Russia

As an update, there actually is North Korean troops to be deployed alongside Russian ones.

As to the legitimacy part, living deep in the Red I'm in regular daily contact with passionate MAGA voters, so I've got some observations. Fact is that they already see legitimacy as entirely dead. They believe our government is false and that democracy has already died in this country. They have no concern about hurting a legitimacy that they do not believe exists. For that matter, in the last few days I've heard a few of them assert that Donald Trump is actually very popular with most Americans, and because of this the only way for the Democrats to win is by cheating. He's actually not controversial at all, and if you think otherwise you've been deceived by the media. If Harris wins, they will absolutely not recognize her as the true president and continue to recognize Trump as the legitimate leader of this country. Their minds are already made on this.

So, effectively a non-insignificant amount of the Americans think democracy is dead, and as any self-fulfilling prophesy will work towards it. Also something that is emphasized they think of themselves as victims instead of aggressors. No matter what, spite and revenge will seem justified to them, they will see themselves as acting in response instead of being the ones who are ruining their own democracy.

Since 2016 there seems to be a back and forth between the idea of "we can talk with them and work on legitimate grievances" to "no, they will only accept being in power and subvert and sabotage as much as possible if not". I'm guessing, the needle is now pointing more to the latter for some?

You know, the EU's response in the last trade war was after a long period of failed talks, broken promises and lack to retaliation to try to de-escalate was to finally start targeting the Red States directly. From statements with the EU's "Trump rapid response team", their strategy this time around if necessary is to do the last strategy first and for the attack first to 'hit back fast and hard’.

A lot of Trump supporters said they voted Trump "for the economy" than many stated they didn't care and would be happy to sacrifice money to prove their superiority, than changed their minds again and cried how unfair it was they got hit, and then tried to pretend it never happened afterwards (or even outright forgot). That isn't new (think of Jan 6th), I think their minds are already made up on this, at least until it comes back to bite them then suddenly they panic, they playdown & lie or they try to flip fault. At least until they get back their courage and start posturing again.

That's the psychology at play here, it's not new. I'm sure it'll sound familiar of people from many different countries that are all of a particular regime type.

Oh, they absolutely see themselves as on the side of victims. They often reference "standing up for Trump". Trump is an absolute golden boy, and the idea that anyone who could dislike him for an understandable reason is beyond comprehension. When speaking of the opposition, they are often said to "just not like Trump for some reason" and described with such terms as "mean", "nasty", "cruel", the language you'd use to refer to a schoolyard bully. Trump is America's greatest victim, and absolutely has to be protected. They are fearful. The deeper they get in political conversation the more active their hands become, the higher their voices, and their eyes often dart from side to side. They have no doubt that there are people out there who want to hurt them for no other reason than to hurt them.

I choose "a", but as in "The guy who recorded this video was stupid.", but with "Why did anyone code the machine like this?".

It's not shocking, the right has been pretending dems have been rigging elections as far back as I can remember, my reactionary relatives were claiming this bullshit back in 2008 too

It's wrong to characterize the Supreme Court putting an end to the eternal Florida recounts over a month in – and nearly a full month past the initial reporting deadline – as a "steal", assuming that's what you were thinking of. The Supreme Court ended the recounts because 1) there was no consistent standard between all involved counties, and 2) it would be impossible to create such a standard in time for Florida to properly participate in the electoral process.

I havent at all changed political aligments, specially not with how crazy the republican party became, it just that modern games are just getting harder and harder to defend….thats all

Judging by the polls, I am pretty sure that Trump will win again. So many folks are such single-issue voters on culture war stuff that they overlook the many crimes of Trump and his administration--along with the likes of Ajit Pai & Scott Pruit doing very unpopular things.

The fact that the courts have slow-walked Trump's sentencing and the leniency afforded to him makes the notion that he is somehow unfairly targeted makes it hard to believe. Many also forget that Trump spent most of his time watching television amid his "executive time" while having his arch-Conservative underlings do much of the work--which makes the idea that he is somehow "moderate" absurd and blind to his actual rhetoric.

Trump is too crazy and makes people see him fun and interesting compared to Harris who is only there because of Trump and Walz is more likeable and fun.

About allegations, the problem is that few jackasses are using the allegations Trump got as an excuse to blame him which makes some believe other allegations are fake.
The real allegations should be shown more publicly to see if Trump is a dork that must be put in a prison. More like asylum with Hillary.

Lmao, what polls? The only "polls" that show trump leading are like, betting sites and right wing conservative polls. Kamala is leading trump by like, 10 points among people who've already voted in swing states on exit polling, which is way more accurate then just asking random people too.

I think it's gonna be a blow out. Trump's polls are in the tank almost everywhere.

I believe Kamala will win anyways. Trump has no luck here if you ask me. If he loses, he should just build a fast food restaurant. He loves that more than politics, but he ignores that and talks like a fool.

no seriously what polls?
I want to see what your political news diet is

edit – also after so many clear signs of fading from dementia (the most recent one the weird lack of filter for sexual behavior) how are people justifying Trump?

I live in a very Conservative district (Tom Emmer is my Representative), so I see MAGA backers all the time. The polls I've seen have been from the big outlets and recommendations that I only see in passing (which I know aren't super trustworthy), but my conclusions are based more on feelings. Granted, I'm not actively looking for polls and am not being entirely rational about the whole thing.

so you don't have them. at all.

On the topic of polls, been seeing this piece of news just today.

Iowa Poll: Kamala Harris leapfrogs Donald Trump to take lead near Election Day. Here's how

Kamala Harris now leads Donald Trump in Iowa -- a startling reversal for Democrats and Republicans who have all but written off the state’s presidential contest as a certain Trump victory.

A new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows Vice President Harris leading former President Trump 47% to 44% among likely voters just days before a high-stakes election that appears deadlocked in key battleground states.

The results follow a September Iowa Poll that showed Trump with a 4-point lead over Harris and a June Iowa Poll showing him with an 18-point lead over Democratic President Joe Biden, who was the presumed Democratic nominee at the time.

Not gonna lie, if Trump wins I may stop posting here all that often for like….four years….(yeah yeah "dont threaten me with a good time" yeah yeah but here me out)

This website in particular will become really really obnoxious if Trump gets his way, especially the new users that will be inevitably coming here. So yeah…hopefully he doesnt oh well

Really skeptical of this.Emerson College Polling held on the same day with a similar sample size (n=800) has it 43% Harris and 53% Trump. 270 to Win has the average of these two polls and another in October as 45.0% Harris and 49.3% Trump. I'm more willing to bet the poll is an outlier than an accurate reflection of Iowa voters.

On the other hand, I think it's also worth noting where this Kamala 3 poll comes from: Ann Selzer's firm, whose Iowa-specific polls are known for being particularly high quality and have a pretty good accuracy. Selzer called the 2020 results for Iowa correctly within a percentage point, and from looking at the rest of her track record it looks like she's right a lot more often than not. If it's worth anything, she received a rare A rating from poll aggregate FiveThirtyEight.

*A plus rating. I have no idea why the plus signs didn't appear in this post.

fucked up thing to do
also your tangent is weird

I hoped Trump would lose 2020 election because I was tired of mainstream media talking about him (and because I thought he would be too clumsy he would do one fatal mistake).
Now I just want him to lose because I believe he is an incompetent nowadays and people he works with will force him to add shit not needed. Too bad he will get too used to their ideas he might accept them.
If he loses, don't care. Harris's presidential campaign will be a nothing burger for most of the time.

Barring any surprises, the election is going to boil down to who wins Pennsylvania.

Actually, looking at the map and current polling, Harris needs to claim Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania if she wants to win.

Losing just one of those states means Trump wins.

Of particular note is that on 538, one particular highly rated pollster, AtlasIntel, has Trump ahead on every swing state, including Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Virtually everyone else has Harris winning Wisconsin and Michigan.

If AtlasIntel is accurate, you're looking at a 312-226 in favor of Trump.

Not cause I am necesarily a centrist but because centrists seem to be the best writers in modern times usually.

i'll state right now that i remember almost nothing about judas, but if it ends up pulling a bioshock infinite and takes place during a time where black people are prejudiced against and interracial relationships are considered anathema, then the posters would make sense, columbia was also pretty overt with its disdain for both
