Only one war story from my great uncle, who fought in WW2: sisland hopping campaign >great uncle gets assigned to burial duty because of so many guys getting killed >burial duty consists of digging a mass grave, dumping all the dead guys in, and then coming back months later when they weren't actively taking a new island >burial duty on a recently captured island >suddenly everyone realizes there are still Japanese in a bunker just over the hill >bunker is surrounded, lieutenant is yelling for the Japanese to come out and surrender (implying) >suddenly marine hoses down the bunker with a flamethrower three Japanese come out screaming and on fire >whole platoon opens up, two Japanese are killed right away but the third steps on a landmine and explodes everyone hits the dirt >suddenly great uncle feels extremely warm sensation on his back >his friend runs over and tells him to hold still as he nudges something off uncle's back >a burning glob of human fatty tissue is laying on the dirt Later that night: -guys all sitting around a fire having their first decent meal in a while suncle's turn to get food sguy in charge of chow plops a big ladel of fat into uncle's bowl and says "Enjoy your molten J-- stew!" uncle hurls all over the fire and doesn't eat for a day and a half mfw he told my brother and me this story when we were 12
