Xiangling Copypasta

About

Xiangling Copypasta refers to a Copypasta revolving around the Genshin Impact character Xiangling, a four-star fire element character. Due to her continued meta-relevancy since launch, Xianling's copypasta is from the perspective of a player who has grown tired of her presence after years of playing her out of necessity due to other fire element characters being far worse than her.

Origin

On December 8th, 2022, the Redditor^[1] STRICKERROCKS uploaded the copypasta as a comment on a question asked in the subreddit /r/Genshin_Impact. Though he later states that he got the copypasta from Discord, the original Discord and message are unable to be found, with STRICKERROCKS being the first to use the copypasta outside of Discord (shown below).

I can't take it anymore. I'm sick of xiangling. I try to play diluc. My xiangling deals more damage. I try to play yoimiya. My xiangling deals more damage. I try to play Hu tao. My xiangling deals more damage. I want to play Klee. Her best team has xiangling. I want to play raiden, childe. They both want xiangling.

She grabs me by the throat. I fish for her. I cook for her. I give her the catch. She isn't satisfied. I pull engulfing lightning. "I don't need this much er" She tells me. "Give me more field time." She grabs bennett and forces him to throw himself off enemies. "You just need to funnel me more. I can deal more damage with homa."

I can't pull for homa, I don't have enough primogems. She grabs my credit card. It declines. "Guess this is the end." She grabs gouba. She says "Gouba, get them." There is no hint of sadness in his eyes. Nothing but pure, no icd pyro application. What a cruel world.

Spread

As the 2023 year unfolded for Genshin Impact, with new characters and a slight shift in the meta, the Xiangling Copypasta would receive two updates. On March 7th, 2023, X^[2] user @imtenten1010 uploaded the copypasta in sections, with the first section being different from the original by changing the characters that get dragged in the beginning. Instead of mentioning Hu Tao, whom many use as their premier fire character, the copypasta instead mentions Cyno, whom Xianling does more damage than, and Dehya, who was immediately labeled as mid upon her release (shown below).

Two weeks later on March 23rd, 2023, the Redditor^[3] JackfruitNatural5474 uploaded the copypasta but switched out Xiangling for "Hyperbloom," the community accepted the best meta team comp for several content patches. In the newly updated Copypasta, Hyperbloom is treated as a singular object, while other characters are namedropped who specifically are used in Hyperbloom teams, or are negatively mentioned as not fitting into the team (shown below).
