They Seem To Be Very Good Friends refers to an exploitable template taken from an Elders React To episode of an elderly woman looking at two characters on a laptop. The image has inspired parodies in which the two "very good friends" are replaced with two characters who are romantically involved or clear enemies.
Origin
On March 7th, 2014, the official YouTube[1] channel REACT uploaded a video titled "Elders React to Shakira – Can't Remember To Forget You ft. Rihanna". In the video, an elderly woman named Rhoda watches the music video of "Can't Remember To Forget You" by Shakira and Rihanna. At the 2-minute mark, she says of the singers, "they seem to be very good friends." The video received more than 10 million views in nine years (shown below).

The clip became popular in 2010s as an exploitable template in which people replaced the video with two characters who are either romantically involved or enemies. For example, on April 22nd, 2015, Tumblr[2] user turtleduckdate uploaded an edit featuring characters from Avatar: The Legend of Korra that received more than 1,100 likes and 700 reblogs (shown below, left). On March 21st, 2019, Facebook[3] page Classical Studies memes for Hellenistic teens uploaded an edit featuring a piece of classical art that received more than 1,100 reactions and 280 shares (shown below, right).
On January 19th, 2024, Twitter / X[4] user @fukaikiri uploaded a Frieren: Beyond Journeys End redraw that received more than 1,700 reposts and 16,600 likes in two weeks (shown below).
