Super Mario RPG Dance, also known as Miniature Mario Dancing, refers to a clip from the upcoming Nintendo Switch game Super Mario RPG remake in which a little version of Mario is dancing in a stage beside another character. The gameplay of the game was revealed in early November 2023, showing the moment Little Mario dances, which inspired parodies and other several other music was paired with the clip, most of the content being posted on Twitter / X and TikTok.

Origin

On November 2nd, 2023, a new gameplay of the upcoming Nintendo Switch game Super Mario RPG^[1] remake was posted on YouTube^[2] by @nintendolife. In one moment of the video, after defeating some enemies, Mario is seen dancing alongside Mallow, who just leveled up and his stats appear on the screen. The video (shown below) amassed over 227,000 views and 4,600 likes in a week.

Spread

Almost immediately after the gameplay video was released, clips and memes started to appear on X. For instance, X^[3] user @HatokTalk posted a video focusing on the miniature Mario dancing with the caption "There has never been a depiction of Mario with this energy." The post (shown below) received roughly 2.6 million views and 23,000 likes in a week.

On November 4th, 2023, X^[4] user @captaintaco2345 posted a thread showing Mario dancing to various songs (shown below). The post garnered over 25,000 views and 875 likes in three days.
