About

Achilles Argyle is a furry and YouTuber rantsona who became the subject of online criticism following the release of his first commentary video in April 2020, titled "Why We Need Racism," a video in which he argues in support of racism. Argyle returned to YouTube in May 2021 with a new video titled, "Why I Watch VTubers (And Why You Should, Too)." Whether or not Argyle is a troll is the subject of much debate. Argyle's fursona is a ram.

History

On April 12th, 2020, Achilles Argyle posted his first Tweet,[1] writing, "Everyone says they're against furries, but now the internet is addicted to animal crossing. SMH. This is only one of the several double standards society throws at furries. Pouting faceFace with rolling eyes #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons #furrypride."

Why We Need Racism

On April 20th, 2020, Argyle posted his first YouTube[2] video, announcing it on Twitter,[3] although it has since been removed. It was reuploaded to YouTube[4] a number of times in the following months (shown below).

The 10-minute-plus video, titled "Why We Need Racism," consists of Argyle making an argument for racism and against counter-culture and SJWs. Throughout the video, Argyle defends the use of the term Chinese virus to refer to COVID-19, suggests Africa should be "left to their own devices" rather than rely on the support of others, and talks about black crime statistics.

Notably, Argyle's bare feet rest on a desk throughout the video. Occasionally, he will spread his toes and green "stink" clouds will form over the feet. This is frequently used to make fun of Argyle. Argyle's video was immediately criticized on Twitter and in its comment section for being racist.

Around May 1st, 2021, Argyle's video was removed by YouTube. On the same date, YouTuber Gf Savages posted a video claiming he wants to debate Argyle, encouraging users to tweet #debategfsavage at him (shown below). This helped boost interest in the video again, with a number of commentary videos on Argyle released throughout the course of the month.

On May 4th, YouTuber[6] Shark3ozero posted a clip from his live stream reaction to the video in Joker makeup, critiquing it throughout and turning it off once he starts ranting about India, garnering over 130,000 views in three weeks (shown below).

On May 6th, YouTuber "That_guy_4_0_4 ?" posted a video adding Argyle's head over LaCienega Boulevardez from the cartoon The Proud Family in a scene where she says her oversized feet are the reason nobody likes her, putting Argyle's over hers for the reveal, garnering over 40,000 views in three weeks (shown below).

Why I Watch VTubers (And Why You Should, Too)

On May 10th, 2021, Argyle released his second video, a commentary about why he likes VTubers. The video gained over 26,000 views in two weeks and an overwhelming dislike-to-like ratio, with around 300 likes against 4,400 dislikes (shown below).

Throughout the video, Argyle props up VTubers as superior to other streamers, saying it takes a lot more work to maintain a VTuber. He specifically criticizes streamer Pokimane at one point in the video.

Online Presence

Argyle is largely hated online, particularly in the furry community, where he is seen as a bad representation of the community at large. This has resulted in a significant number of critical videos, memes and posts about Argyle (examples shown below, left and right).

Despite the hate, Argyle has also managed to gain a small, ironic fanbase, mainly made up of trolls and those who believe Argyle is also trolling or want to show their support simply due to the shock factor. Argyle occasionally posts fan art depicting his fursona by these alleged fans on Twitter[6][7][8] (shown below), however, it is unknown if these are made by authentic fans or ironic ones.

Evidence Of Trolling

Many believe that Argyle is a troll, seeing his first video as far too egregious to be real. Some suggest that his video is a direct parody in both style and shock value of a 2019 upload by furry commentary YouTuber "Kothorix," who published a video titled "In Defense Of Pedophiles" that year to considerable controversy (reupload shown below).

Argyle has a Fur Affinity[5] account, however, it was created on April 13th, a week before his first video, and has never been used except to post his profile picture on the day the account was created, leading many to believe Argyle created the account just to make the troll seem more authentic.

The exaggerated presence of Argyle's feet is also seen as suspicious by some users, as it seems to invite criticism.
