Moistverse or Cr1TiKaL's Clones refers to videos of people from various countries dressing up and making their impression of YouTuber Cr1TiKaL. Started by Puerto Rican YouTube user chaloloo, the YouTube trend achieved viral status within Cr1TiKaL's fanbase and on YouTube in November 2021.

Origin

On July 31st, 2021, YouTube[1] user chaloloo posted a video in which he, dressed up in YouTuber Cr1TiKaL's typical attire and copying his mannerisms, made an impression of his viral Woo Yeah Baby! meme. The video (shown below, left; original clip shown below, right) gained over 29,800 views in four months.

Spread

On August 1st, 2021, Cr1TiKaL uploaded a video titled "The Internet Found My Brother" about chaloloo's video. The accumulated received over 5.1 million views on YouTube[2] in four months.

you can imagine my shock and surprise when the internet showed me yesterday that I have a Puerto Rican twin brother.

On October 12th, 2021, YouTube[3] user LittleGumdropThatCould posted a video titled "Arab Moist Cr1TiKaL" in which he parodied the Woo Yeah Baby! clip. The video gained over 1.2 million views in two months (shown below, left). On November 4th, TikTok[4] user slimskum posted a video of himself parodying the meme, with the TikTok gaining over 3 million views and 595,000 likes in one month (shown below, right). A November 5th YouTube reupload of the video gained 700,000 views in the same time.

In the following week, more YouTube users from various countries posted similar videos. For example, on November 10th, 2021, Filipino YouTube[5] user Calamity posted a video that gained 937,000 views in one month. On November 17th and 18th, YouTube[6][7] channels 平工 海斗K and rishonathan. posted compilation videos.

On November 19th, 2021, Cr1TiKaL posted a video titled "The Family I Never Knew I Had" about the clone videos, referring to them as "the greatest multiverse of All Time." The video gained over 3.7 million views on YouTube[8] in two weeks.

Since this video, there has been of other MoistCr1TiKaLs all over the globe popping up like variants in the multiverse. I promise you: Marvel's multiverse is dogshit compared to this.

The video prompted even more YouTube users to upload their parodies, with Cr1TiKaL posting another video[9] on the subject on December 2nd, 2021 (shown below).

On November 30th, 2021, YouTube channel Lessons in Meme Culture reported[10] on the spread of the meme.
