Haribo Sugarless Gummy Candy Reviews are Amazon product reviews for a sugarless gummy candy produced and sold by the German candy manufacturer Haribo, which often feature humorous stories regarding digestive distress caused by the sugar substitute lycasin.
Origin
On June 13th, 2006, Amazon user Luke Meyers submitted a 1-star review for the Sugarless Haribo Gummy Candy[1] product, claiming that the lycasin caused him "painful gastrointestinal distress" (shown below).[2] Over the next eight years, over 690 additional reviews were posted, many of which contained similar complaints regarding painful digestion.

On May 17th, 2008, Expo TV user Jane T. uploaded a review of the gummy candies, noting that the lycasin may have a laxative effect (shown below).
On October 23rd, 2013, the news site Ryot published an article about the Amazon product page, which included several example reviews. On November 5th, Cracked[8] published an article listing the gummy candies among other products "making our lives a living hell."
On January 14th, 2014, Redditor fragile_november posted a link to a sugarless gummy candy review titled "My Date with Andrea," in which a man recounts his experience with candy-induced diarrhea while on a date.[4] In the first month, the post garnered upwards of 410 up votes and 20 comments on the /r/humor[5] subreddit. On January 18th, several screenshots of sugarless gummy candy reviews were uploaded to an Imgur[6] gallery (shown below).
On January 20th, Vice[3] published an article by writer River Donaghey, who recounted his experience with diarrhea after consuming the sugarless gummy candy. On January 25th, YouTuber skippy62able uploaded a video in which he consumes a 5-pound bag of the sugarless gummy candies, which causes him intestinal discomfort (shown below).
