Overview
Norme's No-Sleep World Record Livestream refers to a viral stream in which YouTuber and Kick streamer Norme attempted to break the world record for "Longest Time Awake" in early August 2024. This was Norme’s third attempt at staying awake for more than 12 days straight for a month and a half. Clips from his stream went viral on X / Twitter and TikTok during his attempt, which showed Norme's disoriented behavior, a swatting incident by his fans and other things they did to make him stay awake.
Background
On August 2nd, 2024, YouTuber and Kick streamer Norme started a livestream attempting to break the Guinness World Record for "Longest Time Awake." His stream started getting viral attention on August 9th, 2024, after X[1] user @JayeSmacks tweeted a screenshot displaying Norme's being awake for more than 200 hours. The tweet (seen below) amassed more than 30,000 likes and 1,700 reposts in four days.

Norme's No-Sleep Stream Swatted
At 261 hours of his stream, a fan falsely reported an incident to police at Nome's home, which was swatted shortly after. On August 11th, 2024, Norme posted a screenshot on X[2] showing the police officer at his place (seen below), which amassed more than 730 likes and 30 reposts in a day.
YouTube and Kick Livestream Ban
On August 11th, 2024, YouTube and Kick took down Norme's stream[3] after more than 12 days (260 hours) of livestreaming. The X[3] page of Dexerto shared news about the viral stream that day (seen below), amassing roughly 87,000 likes and 1,900 reposts in a day.
Online Reactions
Norme's "No Sleep" stream became a viral topic over the following days, sparking a debate on the streamer's health and behavior. For instance, on August 11th, 2024, X[4] user @DeltaVaran replied to a tweet about Norme's challenge, writing, "Showed this to a colleague of mine who worked on the impact of sleep deprivation for military applications. They told me this is an actual war crime." The post (seen below) amassed over 173,000 likes and 8,700 reposts in a day.
Clips from Norme's no-sleep challenge also became a viral topic on TikTok in mid-August 2024. For example, on August 11th, TikTok[5] user @infostreams shared a video showing the streamer disoriented (seen below, left), amassing roughly 206,000 plays and 10,000 likes in a day.
On the same day, TikTok[6] user @sdgh6195 posted a video explaining why Norme started the stream (seen below, right), which amassed more than 33,000 plays and 225 likes in a day.
