I just never got mocking spongebob. It's the pinnacle of unoriginality and the entire joke is repeating a sentence in a mocking phrase, something literally done by actual kids.

Well memes are at their core, jokes, in a way. When a joke is overused it stops being funny, and when it refuses to go away after it stops being funny then it just starts getting annoying. This isn't just the case for the internet, that's how all comedy is. Hearing the same joke over and over and over again is bound to get annoying.

That's what happened with things like chuck norris jokes; and doge; and harambe. Other things can get incredibly popular and still retain their entertainment value, jokes on the other hand, not so much.

But i won't pretend like i never liked them, i loved chuck norris jokes when i was younger, and i did think doge was funny. But for the reasons stated above, they lost their appeal.

I was considering adding an "inb4" to my post because you could see this coming from a mile away.

You know, many people at this point would call Earth-chan their least favorite meme. Hell, I was about to until I remembered this little piece of shit. FUCK this meme. It's undoubtedly the worst Spongebob meme to date and that's a shame since they tend to be at least somewhat funny. Nothing about this meme was good. NOTHING. At least Earth-chan spawned some quality fanart even if it was a pretty lame meme overall. This just spawned nothing but a retarded trend of people mocking everything everyone says. It was TERRIBLE.

And you know what's the worst part of this? In the original scene Spongebob wasn't mocking anyone, he was just acting like a chicken, that's it.

Confused Krab made sense because in the original he didn't understand why everyone wanted their money back.
Caveman Spongebob was sudden realization which makes sense considering the context.

This meme on the other hand had none with even less potential than the average meme.

I'd never been to r/MemeEconomy until you brought it up, so I went there…
…and it's basically just a meme format and template hub.

So THIS is where those lazy template memes are coming from.

Honestly, I don't really mind all of those "Things I don't like" memes. They aren't really funny, but they aren't extremely bad. they just kind of… exist.

On the other hand, Harambe, Fidgit Spinners, the Tide Pod, Bleach, and No Lackin' challenges, as well as those Vine and Snapchat fads are evil and deserve to be wiped off the face of the earth.

I'll name quite a few:

-"Thing I don't like" memes: I'll admit they occassionally can be funny[hell, I'd lie if I said I never found virgin vs chad memes funny despite pretty much morphing into this shit.] but the whole purpose is to basically boost the op's ego by portraying their beliefs as superior to everyone elses. pretty fucking wrong, dismissive & narcissistic in my book. why actually make an argument/debate against something when you can just draw shit in ms paint?

-We Wuz Kings: back when I was right-leaning I kinda found this funny, I'll admit the whole 'blacks did EVERYTHING!!!!' shit in history is blatantly wrong, yet most of the people who make these memes aren't trying to say "all races have contributed to history, not just 1" they're trying to dismiss any actual black acheivements too[which yes, if you look towards history, while It's asinine to say black people are responsible for everything, you'd notice that a lot of things we enjoy today are thanks to the efforts of black-americans and native africans] in exchange for a narrative that's just "whites did everything u filthy negros haha". I stopped laughing at this meme about like, a year ago. P.S., Just to be clear, the ancient egyptians were neither black nor white. they were arab, it's just that they came long before Mohammed waved his dick around and forced people to wear towels on their heads "for Allah". you may all scream now.

-Tide Pod Challenge/Forbidden Fruits: A more recent meme, I admittingly found it somewhat funny at first but I slowly realized how dumb the whole thing is. how the fuck do tide pods even LOOK like food? I see no resemblance. the whole meme is just perpertrated by fucking retarded people who want to eat inedible objects. when they actually ate those inedible objects and died I frankly came to utterly loathe it.

-Montage Parodies/MLG Memes: These can remain in meme limbo for good, it was basically just the same lame meaningless jokes over and over again. oh my god someone touched something, put a hitmarker. man's eating or drinking, make it doritoz & mtn dew cuz I'm totally aware of what that's referencing. and don't forget to make everyone smoke a blunt & wear fedoras and sunglasses unironically. I'm half sure if someone is still referencing montage parody memes usually they're mentally retarded, a little kid which ironically they'd make fun of in older ones or both.

-Rage Comics: no, just no. these are pretty much the most unfunny, outdated meme of all time. they were ugly, they were juvenile & immature. archaeologists in the future are probably gonna look at the 2000s internet and the biggest question they'll be trying to solve is how the fuck ANYONE found these funny. what the fuck was with their awful grammar, art style, UGH. I'm pretty sure merely looking at these gives you brain damage.

Well, as of now, I don't have much that are current ongoing memes, but I'll just list some common picks (along with a few that are most likely dead)

  • Trump memes/Trump as a "meme man" to overglorify him –
First off, the guy obviously whores for attention with his damn ego + the mistakes he's been doing so much it's disgusting. As for the second thing, there's nothing that gets on my nerves like people saying Trump is god because memes. To me that sounds like saying memes automatically excuse everything that's wrong with him. Just…no.
  • 90% of Vine memes –
Thankfully lots of them are dead now, but what made me grow to hate them oh so much is that my school was one of those who would shoehorn it sometimes along with kids spewing it endlessly. The worst offenders were What Are Those, Damn Daniel, I am The One, and the Lebron James kid.
  • Tide Pods –
I never was too fond of it aside from the brightly coloredness of the pods, but I really don't like it now because it's gotten way too out of control. First stores end up sealing them up, and now there's an anti-Tide Pod bill because of the damn thing. Nice job internet, meme magic should have never been used on an inedible object.
  • "Things I don't like" memes –
I don't hate them as much as other people do, but they're really a cheap way of making an immature statement of a fandom you don't like along with some other things.

And the award for "meme I currently hate the most" goes to…

  • IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKING JOJO REFERENCE!?!?!?!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this meme yet, and I don't know about other people, but I absolutely cannot stand this meme (No pun intended). I never found it funny to begin with, and I definitely never will now. First off, it's everywhere on almost every single video on YouTube with even the slightest/vaguest allusion to JoJo's, and I really don't get why it's posted to stuff that clearly references JoJo, like when say, Jotaro is present, music or audio from the anime or any other dead ringers are used, and yet someone asks that, ironic or not, OF COURSE IT'S A FUCKING JOJO REFERENCE! It's not helped if even obscure references get that.

That being said, you really can't legitimately ask if something is an actual reference to JoJo, or even anything that's not JoJo anymore without people thinking you're making a reference to this meme. Hell, it's tainted the way JoJo shitposts are labeled now, with them being "JoJo references" in tandem with the whole "everything is jojo reference" thing, and I honestly prefer "JoJokes" more because it's more seen as taking something that already exists and apply JoJo mechanics to it, thus the JoJo edits of things.

Lastly, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the exact same, if not similar behavior that got fanbases like MLP, FNaF, Undertale, and now Rick and Morty etc so much hate, and yet this somehow is immune to that? And this is coming from someone who also likes MLP, which confuses me even more. I've seen things like "Hey this reminds me of [Thing from "cringe" fandom]" in comment sections and such getting responses like "KYS Faggot" "OMG X IS CANCER I HATE SEEING IT EVERYWHERE" "THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH X" more times than I can count, and yet applicable JoJo quotes and such get the titular phrase and things like "lololo everythung iz jooj referendum XDDDDDD"? Just…WHAT!?

tl;dr, The JoJo reference thing is everywhere so much that it's insufferable, and I hope it dies out by the end of this year.

Ugandan Knuckles, Trash Doves, Tide Pods, and Harambe all fucking suck.

Trash Doves was honestly pretty harmless. It was OK for what it was and it didn't overstay it's welcome like most social media "normie" memes do.

Fuck Harambe, tho.

Harlem Shake is my personal king of shit memes
Rhodes its nothing that can to it, it was a corporation fueled meme, it didn't grow off ordinary people but by forcing by mainstream entities, there is nothing cringier than that

there is a lot of unfunny and unoriginal memes that makes me blood boil: doki doki memes, earth chan, sanic, touhou memes, earrape, ugandan knuckles, mlp memes, the list goes on…

but, if i need to chose the one i hate most, i think i will go with doki doki shitposting

I usually keep my opinions to myself unless it really gets under my skin.
And this does.
I can not stand this stuff.
I don't even know if ANYBODY finds that funny.

While I'm on that subject, any memes that is generally bad in taste.
Like those "When you hitting it from behind and they ask you to leave the funeral" type of memes.

Then again, Maybe I'm getting too worked up over this.

No, I agree. I also feel like this might give potential future shooters ideas to exploit this and try to trigger Hey Siri or Ok Google, unless both devices are really good at only knowing the users' voice.

Probably Earth-chan, since it single-handedly brought down this website to such a state of degeneracy.

It didn't really do that, we were all at that level of degeneracy anyway, the meme just provided a place to concentrate our degeneracy

Harambe and Ugandan Knuckles: Mildly funny at first, but quickly driven into the ground by every chucklefuck under the sun thinking they're some comedic god by spamming and replicating a joke someone else made. (I know most memes fall under this, but this was like a mob mentality thing)

Earth Chan: anime girl version of ____ just annoys me as a concept, not in a "eww gross, anime's stupid" way, but more of an early MLP "lets make a pony version of everything and post it everywhere" kinda way. -That and it's annoying seeing all these waifufags drool over and constantly flooding the galleries with these low tier, flavor of the week, manufactured anime girls for them to fap to, while actual memes are flushed out-

Anything related to Trump: I don't like em, you don't like em, he has a bad spray tan and wears a toupee, there, can we focus on things that are actually funny now?
