I agree with the decision of the admins to promote the whitelisting of the site, with all my heart. I've been on this site for literally more than a third of my life, and it would be a real shame to see it just vanish because they just ran out of ad revenue. What would the alternatives be? Pestering for donations? Making the site a subscription service? Stripping away key features of the site to make it cheaper to run? All of these options are unreasonable. The site needs ads to keep up, but if people keep disabling them, they aren't going to do much good. People say the ads are oh so intrusive, but I have yet to see anything of the sort in the time I've spent here, and believe me, I've spent a lot of time here.. It's hyperbole.
Go ahead and whitelist it, I say unless you want the site to die of course. I have yet to use adblock on this site, and I never will.

Even though U.S. politics has currently been a real anxiety-causing shit show that's spilled into the internet, I wish KYM would tone down on the amount of political memes and events. It's not something I have any control over, but stuff like the Charlottesville rally and violence is already stressful enough, but then stuff like the Liberal Emoji Meme War is just ridiculous.
Downvoting unpopular opinions on the Unpopular Opinions thread pretty much defeats the purpose of having this thread (that doesn't mean really terrible stuff like "Hitler was right to kill jews" is acceptable, though). It's like you're sending the message that you can't post opinions that are too unpopular, which reflects badly for you guys.

This thread was a mistake, and I wish my dumbass 15 year old self didn't create this shitheap so people can dump petty complaints, suck dicks, or point out how "against the crowd" they are and be put on a pedestal for it.
Long ago I wished for it to be locked so that I can stop seeing constant strings of opinions that range from attention-seeking to deliberately inflammatory to just downright idiotic or patronizing and even now this shit still lives, and ironically I guess that means it is an unpopular opinion to wish this shit could just GTFO.
But nope, now its a hive where people can post whatever shit they want and have free immunity to disagreement or downvotes they'd normally get, basically a place to say whatever they want and feel good about it when there's dozens of other places, but here it congregates into a heap of garbage.
So there's my new unpopular opinion. I want this thread to fucking die already instead of constantly getting revived to User A can complain/share their two cents knowing full well how quickly they'd get shit for it IRL. I know that's the entire purpose of this thread, but for it to have become a goddamn Safe Space has grinded my gears immensely.
TL;DR, this thread is garbage and needs to die. And I know full well this post will be buried, but dammit, I need to get that off my chest.

I Kinda feel you on that.
After learning about the term "cognative dissonance," I recently discovered that that effect made me use this thread to vent out unpopular opinions. This was certainly present with my dislike for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and my love for Fire Emblem Fates (if anything this serves as an example for that cognative dissonance). They are unpopular opinions for sure but lately I feel like I was ranting rather than stating an opinion.
