3 months ago Very disappointed in this business owner, not the actual zoo. Super unprofessional, not courteous, not friendly. We arrived at 5:15, not knowing they stopped selling tickets at 5. We drive an hour and a half to come there and we were told we couldn't go in. Ok.. but she was so rude and so adamant that rules couldn't be broken, no even to let us in for a 45 min trip to the zoo for my daughter, who we'd told all day we would take her. We were held up by storms and got there as soon as we could, PLEADED to just go in and promised to not be out late. She was super unreasonable with her justification and attitude, and super unfriendly with her general attitude. Had she even been kind and not so rude, we would have understood. But three hours of driving with a toddler to the zoo only to end up home at dinner time without seeing the animals she'd waited all day to see. We left with her crying that she didn't want to leave. I feel like any human being with half a heart would have maybe been understanding in some way. Not this woman. S Share

If you keep your dog on the leash and another dog comes up to say hello, the dog on the leash feels defensive. It cannot get away and feels the need to protect himself and his owner. If your dog is not socialized, there is another dam just further up the road, and that area is not leash free. So you will not encounter free running dogs. In Kenridge, there is a park across the shopping centre, where owners bring their dogs purely for the opportunity to play and no dog is on a leash. All the dogs have a good time running around while the owners chat, so that is a good place to go to encourage socialization. There is also a dog training class running on Saturday morning, on the field opposite the Spar in Protea Road, where help in socialization can be given.
