You Can Just Give This Kind of Thing to Men and They Will Be Thrilled is an exploitable two-panel image macro depicting Frieren from the anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey's End holding a potion that dissolves a person's clothes, subtitled, "You see, you can just give this kind of thing to men and they will be thrilled." The scene comes from episode 12, which premiered in November 2023. It became the subject of memes where the item in Frieren's hand is replaced with something else to alter the context.

Origin

On November 24th, 2023, the 12th episode of the anime series Sousou no Frieren, or Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, aired. At one point in the episode, Fern tells Frieren that it's Stark's 18th birthday and asks Freiren what she's going to give him as a gift. Frieren pulls a potion from a chest and explains that it will dissolve a person's clothing if poured on them, saying, "You see, you can just give this kind of thing to men and they will be thrilled." Fern takes the potion and pours it on Frieren, dissolving her clothes (shown below). That night, the Anime Watchers Guild Facebook^[1] page posted a two-panel image macro of the scene, garnering over 300 shares and 350 reactions in three days.

On November 24th, Facebook^[2] user Princess Hinghoi posted fan art referencing the scene, garnering over 5,100 reactions and 8000 shares in the same span of time. Later that night, Facebook^[3] page Daisuke-kun posted a photoshop of the two-panel image macro replacing the potion with a graphics card, garnering over 28,000 reactions and 9,.800 shares in the same span of time (shown below, right).

The meme became the further subject of photoshops over the following days. On November 26th, 2023, Redditor Instagram^[4] user rave_lord_nito posted a version of the meme referencing Dark Souls, which was reposted to /r/fromsoftware on Reddit^[5] by /u/joshkolenick that day, garnering over 1,500 likes and 200 upvotes in a day (shown below, left). That day, X^[6] user @Watameloncrimes posted a version of the meme submitted by X^[7] user @senpai6913 that garnered over 1,500 likes in a day (shown below, right).

The image of Frieren holding the potion also became the subject of redraws. For example, on the same day, X^[8] user @tomoyoshi_misc posted a redraw of the image where Frieren is holding a drill, garnering over 32,000 likes in two days (shown below).
