On December 18th, 2023, Twitter / X^[1] user @ononotsu uploaded fan art of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End using the Dark Souls video game cover as a reference. The post received over 6,100 reposts and 33,700 likes in three months (shown below).

Spread

Starting in March 2024, Twitter user @ononotsu started creating Frieren fan art based on various video game covers. For example, on March 1st and 14th, 2024, the same Twitter / X^[2][3] user uploaded Frieren fan art using the Dark Souls II and Bloodborne video game covers as a reference. The posts received more than 4,300 reposts and 25,700 likes, and 8,700 reposts and 57,300 likes, respectively (shown below, left and right).

In the same month, others on Twitter began joining in the trend and drawing Frieren art in the style of other video game covers. For example, on March 24th, 2024, Twitter / X^[4] user @Excaliburfyda uploaded Frieren fan art based on the No More Heroes cover. The post received more than 1,300 reposts and 8,700 likes in three days (shown below, left). On the next day, Twitter / X^[5] user @q_kumoriza_p uploaded Frieren fan art using the Don't Starve cover as a reference. The post received over 2,500 reposts and 21,500 likes in two days (shown below, right).
