About

Wenomechainsama or Wenamichoinasama, also known as When I Met You in The Summer, refers to a series of ironic lyric video memes where the lyrics to "Summer" by Calvin Harris are presented line by line with the incorrect, phonetic spelling of the lyrics. The original video was posted by Instagram user dank.__.growlithe around June 2021 and inspired a meme where the lyrics are sung by a guinea pig in October 2021, becoming an exploitable template on TikTok and YouTube over the following year.

Origin

Around June 19th, 2021, Instagram[1] user dank.__.growlithe posted a video set to "Summer" by Calvin Harris showing an old man captioned "my grandpa always told me," followed by each string of lyrics misspelled as gibberish. The original post was removed, but re-uploaded to YouTube[2] on June 19th, gaining over 28,400 views in 10 months (shown below).

Spread

On October 13th, TikToker[3] @leo_zeta posted a video where a woman says to a guinea pig, "I wonder what you would tell me if you could talk," followed by each lyric to the song phonetically spelled out in speech bubbles, gaining over 2.9 million views in six months (shown below).

On April 12th, TikToker[6] @jabba_the_hutt_fan posted a version where Walt and Jesse from Breaking Bad sing the song, gaining over 2 million views in just under two weeks (shown below, right).
