Red Larva Oi Oi Oi refers to a Misheard Speech Bubble meme that shows the character Red from the animated South Korean series Larva singing the Japanese lyrics of the song "OI OI OI Bakugou" by La Memerano. The meme went viral on TikTok in April 2024, spreading across video platforms going into the year as the exploitable became increasingly edited and absurd.

Origin

Before the "Oi Oi Oi" meme with Red Larva, TikTokers^[1]^[2] posted other viral videos with the character in 2023.

On March 30th, 2024, TikToker^[3] @lxvqlin posted a Slow Fade-In meme that showed the My Hero Academia character Katsuki Bakugo with a top caption reading, "How i feel after typing accidentally 'Oi' instead of 'Oh.'" The video used the song "OI OI OI Bakugou" by La Memerano which samples Bakugo saying, "Oi oi oi." The video gained over 1.4 million plays and 325,400 likes in 19 days (shown below).

About a week later, on April 8th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @jmystify posted their own Slow Fade-In meme that used an almost identical caption about typing "oi" instead of "ok," using an image of Red Larva. The video received over 13.6 million plays and 2.8 million likes in 10 days (shown below). Currently, it is the first known Red Larva "Oi Oi Oi" meme.

On April 14th, 2024, TikToker^[5] @kentut_mendydihhh posted a video of WhatsApp messages showing Red Larva singing "Oi oi oi," gaining over 3.7 million plays and 491,500 likes in four days (shown below, left).

The meme started to take shape in the following days, evident in a What's On Your Mind? meme posted by TikToker^[6] @daviddzzz7 on April 16th, 2024, receiving over 77,800 plays and 7,800 likes in two days (shown below, right).
