Giant Enemy Spider is a video remix series featuring audio from a Let's Play video of the game Next Car Game. The video features the player saying, "Oh, no, the giant enemy spider." Then, the player begins singing the tune of the Team Aqua/Magma boss theme from Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.

Origin

On Jan 17, 2014, YouTuber Jerma985 uploaded a video of him playing the sandbox racing game Next Car Game. Within it, he points out a large, mechanical spider bot as a "secret boss battle," proceeding to beatbox the Team Aqua/Team Magma boss theme.

Spread

On September 15th, 2019, Instagram user 19xxr posted the clip accompanied by various characters dancing. Within 3 months, the post gained more than 6,000 views, with a YouTube reupload gaining over 100,000 views.

In December 2019, video remixes using the audio from the video grew in popularity. For example, on December 1st, YouTuber speedyrave 420 shared a version that received more than 100,000 views in less than two montsh (shown below, left). Two weeks later, YouTuber Everwine shared another video that received more than 114,000 views in in less than two months (shown below, right).
