Sparkle On! It’s Wednesday! Don’t Forget To Be Yourself! is a catchphrase often paired with a blurry image of internet personality Jerma985. The image has been used as a day of the week meme for Wednesday. It has inspired remixes and variations.

Origin

On September 1st, 2017, Jerma streamed^[1] gameplay commentary of the video game TV Superstars on Twitch. The game uses live footage and pictures of the player. At one point during the stream, low-resolution live footage of Jerma appeared on the screen, and Jerma posed with his hand on his hip. This can be seen in a YouTube video uploaded^[2] to the 2ndJerma channel titled “Jerma Sells Out", which received over 2.1 million views in five years (shown below).

On May 11th, 2022, Tumblr user campyvillain posted^[3] a screenshot of the Jerma pose with the caption "Sparkle on! It’s wednesday! Don’t forget to be yourself!” The post received over 100,000 notes within eleven months (shown below).

Spread

The meme began spreading over the following months on Tumblr.^[4] On July 4th, 2022, Tumblr user charrfie posted^[5] a GIF combining the Jerma image with an animated "Sparkle On" caption, receiving over 3,500 notes in 10 months (shown below, left). On December 15th, user gasterofficial^[6] posted an un-blurred variation, gaining over 1,700 reblogs and 2,500 likes in five months (shown below, right).

Other variations utilized different characters or different days of the week. For example, on January 3rd, 2023, Twitter^[7] user K0T0H1KA posted a variation with Hatsune Miku, gaining over 1,200 retweets and 6,000 likes in four months (shown below, left). On September 23rd, 2022, Tumblr user tenobelisk^[8] posted a downbeat version for Friday, gaining over 8,500 reblogs and 10,000 likes in eight months (shown below, right).
