About
Bravely Default is a JRPG created by Square Enix and released for the 3DS. Players navigate the world of Luxendarc with four characters and the game employs turn-based combat. The main character is Agnès Oblige, who allies with Tiz Arrior, Ringabel and Edea Lee.
History
Bravely Default was directed by Kensuke Nakahara and produced by Tomoya Asano, with music composed by Revo. The first trailer was posted in late 2011 (shown below, left). The game was released in Japan on October 11th, 2012. While a localization was not initially planned, Asano told fans to continue to clamor for it until their wishes were met. A localization was released in Europe on December 3rd 2013 and in North America on February 7th, 2014. The game's positive reception led to the creation of a sequel, Bravely Second: End Layer.
Reception
The game was well received by critics, receiving an 85/100 on Metacritic,[1] with most scores between the 80s and 100. Critics praised the storyline and the turn-based gameplay, as well as the game's artstyle. It was ranked as one of the best games on 3DS in 2013 by IGN[2] and Gamespot in 2014.[3]
