Skaar (She-Hulk)

About

Skaar is The Hulk's son who was revealed in an October 2022 episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Once screenshots of him surfaced on Twitter along with the clip from the episode, meme creators found his appearance funny due to his odd haircut that made him look like he had a receding hairline. He became an exploitable character across social media platforms thereafter.

Precursor

Skaar has been a part of the Marvel Comics Universe since 2006 when he was introduced as a character in the Planet Hulk^[1] storyline, a part of The Incredible Hulk issues. Skaar is from the planet Sakaar which Hulk went to, where he fought in a gladiator arena.^[2] There, Hulk met a female warrior named Caiera the Oldstrong whom he fell in love with and impregnated.^[2] Later, Caiera was killed and Hulk sought revenge on Earth. Meanwhile, Skaar was born before Caiera's death without Hulk knowing.^[2] In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's implied that Hulk was on Sakaar between the movies Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: Ragnarok.^[3]

Origin

During the Season 1 finale of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Jennifer Walkers (played by Tatiana Maslany) is at a family barbeque. Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) arrives during the scene and states that he was off-world on Sakaar. He then introduces his son Skaar (Wil Deusner), who comes out from behind him and looks shyly at the camera. On October 13th, 2022, the YouTube channel The SuperRocxz posted the clip, gaining roughly 350,400 views in one day (shown below).

Spread

On October 13th, 2022, the clip of Skaar landed on Twitter as well. For instance, Twitter^[4] user pierrychan1984 tweeted, "Bro WTF," captioning a screenshot of Skaar and earning roughly 2,300 likes in less than a day (shown below, left). Twitter^[5] user HandInfinity replied to pierrychan1984's tweet with a Zoomerified Pepe, likening Skaar's hair to the Zoomer perm. The reply received over 230 likes (shown below, right).

More jokes about Skaar's haircut were levied on Twitter. For instance, on September 13th, 2022, Twitter^[6] user DDEnjoyer tweeted, "Matt Murdock when he feels the wind on skaar’s fucked up ass hairline," gaining roughly 5,900 views in one day (shown below).

Also on October 13th, Instagram^[7][8] user largetrap posted two videos memes about Skaar. The first one gained roughly 11,000 likes in one day (shown below, left) and the second received roughly 48,800 likes in one day (shown below, right).
