She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is an upcoming Disney+ television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe about Jennifer Walters, aka "She-Hulk," attempting to balance life as a lawyer with her superpower that turns her into a green version of herself with super strength when she gets angry or frightened. The May 2022 release of the trailer received mixed reactions, while some felt it looked like an interesting show, while its CGI effects were widely mocked online.
History
In August of 2019, Marvel announced it was developing a television series for the comic book character She-Hulk alongside television shows for Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel.[1] Jessica Gao was later hired to serve as the show's head writer and Kat Coiro was hired to direct and executive produce the series. Tatiana Maslany stars as Jessica Walters, aka "She-Hulk."[2] On May 17th, 2022, the first trailer for the series was released. It is due to begin airing in August of 2022.
Online Reactions
The initial trailer received mixed reactions, as some viewers expressed excitement for the series while others criticized the CGI and the humor displayed in the trailer. The Verge[3] dubbed the trailer "simply smashing" while The Wrap[4] called it "everything you hoped for and more." However, other publications criticized the CGI, such as Forbes,[5] who wrote, "there are… more (moments in the trailer) where she looks like she’s been pulled out of a bad video game cutscene," using the below example.
Social media was similarly critical of the CGI. Twitter user @CoelaSquid[6] wrote, "Live action She Hulk doesn’t have exaggerated enough proportions to look like she really merits being CG, so she just end up looking kind of like a pointlessly uncanny valley larger than average human woman," gaining over 250 retweets and 2,300 likes (shown below).
Others made memes about the CGI. For example, Twitter user @ngchanges compared She-Hulk to Fiona from the Shrek franchise, gaining over 430 retweets and 2,300 likes in one day (shown below, left). User @sasaholland compared a still from the trailer to a Portuguese-language meme, gaining over 120 retweets and 640 likes (shown below, right).

She-Hulk Twerking With Megan Thee Stallion is a post-credit scene from the third episode of "_She-Hulk: Attorney At Law_ in which rapper Megan Thee Stallion made a cameo and twerked with She-Hulk in her corner office. The so-called "twerk off" inspired memes, reactions and controversy in late 2022 on Twitter and social media, mostly due to the absurdity of Megan's inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
