About
Servants Holding Aphrodite's Breasts refers to a still image from the Record of Ragnarok anime series in which two golem servants are supporting the character Aphrodite's large breasts with their hands. In late June 2021, the image gained widespread use in memes as a reference for redraws.
Origin
On June 17th, 2021, the anime adaptation of Record of Ragnarok (jap. Shūmatsu no Warukyūre) manga series premiered on Netflix. [1] In the manga and anime series, the character Aphrodite is accompanied by golem manservants who, among other things, support her large breasts with their hands. In episode five of the series, Aphrodite and her servants are shown observing character Adam entering the arena (video and still image shown below).
Spread
On June 20th, 2021, Redditor jeuskai used a still image from the episode for a When Was Calcium Invented? meme that received over 15,800 upvotes in the /r/animemes[2] subreddit in 10 days (shown below, left). On June 21st, the image was reposted to 9GAG,[3] where it gained over 14,000 likes. In the following days, the image saw moderate popularity on Reddit as source material for memes. For example, on June 22nd, Redditor wulfric_17 posted an object-labeling meme that gained over 14,900 upvotes in the /r/dankmemes[4] subreddit in eight days (shown below, right).
Earlier on June 22nd, Facebook[5] user Dew posted the earliest found redraw of the image, a Genshin Impact fan art, that received over 4,300 reactions and 6,700 shares in eight days (shown below, left). Later on the same day, Facebook[6] page Life isn't dattebayo anymore posted a Naruto redraw that gained over 5,900 reactions and 2,700 shares in eight days (shown below, right).
In the following days, the redraw format gained significant popularity online, particularly on Facebook. For example, on June 24th, 2021, Facebook[7] user Anwar Yuzouf Bahjin posted a Chainsaw Man version of the meme that received over 8,000 reactions and 1,800 shares in one week.
