Running Linkara is reaction video series featuring of comic book reviewer Linkara from a Nostalgia Critic episode running towards the camera in front of a green screen projection of a suburban neighborhood.

Origin

On July 15th, 2014, the Nostalgia Critic aired a video review on the film Bloodrayne. In the video, Linkara runs to the Nostalgia Critic's house to watch the film. Two years later, on June 28th, 2016, the video was uploaded to YouTube. Within four years, the video received more than 1.1 million views (shown below).

Spread

On September 25th, 2014, Tumblr [3] user gonzolink posted a GIF of the scene of Linkara running as the punchline to the joke "Friend: Hey, you wanna come hang out? Me: IDK man, it’s kinda late and I’ve got a lot to do tomor… Friend: I have pizza. Me." The post received more than 100 notes in less than six years (shown below).

About a year and a half later, YouTuber ComJebo published an isolated clip of Linkara running. The post received more than 32,000 views in less than three years (shown below, left). The following year, on May 24th, 2019, Redditor [1] syndus published a GIF of the clip. The post received more than 600 points (99% upvoted) in less than one year (shown below, right).

The GIF also grew as a reaction on the website iFunny. For example, on September 23rd, 2019, iFunny[2] user HigginsWalsan posted the GIF as the response to the joke, "Me running down to Red Lobster for LobsterFest (I have to hurry because it's only for a limited time)." The post received more than 530 reactions in less than one year (shown below).

On September 14, 2019 came the most notable usage of the meme, on a video uploaded by JonTron titled "Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop"(shown below), in which the clip appears in a crystal ball at the 0:17 mark
