Stephanie Matto, also known by her handle @stepankamatto, is a reality TV star and influencer known for 90 Day Fiancé and selling her farts in jars. She later went on to create the controversial NFT project FartJar NFTs. Matto has made content on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram regarding her history of selling farts in jars to men online.
Online History
Stephanie Matto was born in the Czech Republic on September 21, 1990 but grew up in Yonkers, New York.[1] She started her YouTube[2] channel on June 12th, 2012 but didn't upload her first video[3] until May 29th, 2013, being a book review of Trisha Payats' History of my Insanity. Over the course of nine years, the video received roughly 12,200 views (shown below).
She continued to post to YouTube in her early years of content creation, receiving her first viral hit for a video[4] posted on June 29th, 2015 titled, "I Cheated on My Boyfriend | The Whole Story." Over the course of seven years, the video gained roughly 1.5 million views (shown below, left). She then published her first book two months later on August 31st, 2015 titled, "Mean Boys & Memories: A compilation of my most outrageous, hideous, and embarrassing stories." [5] A week later, on September 7th, she had another one of her YouTube[6] videos receive increased viewership. It was titled, "Dating a Married Man | The Truth Exposed," and in seven years, the video received roughly 1.1 million views (shown below, right).
She started posting to Instagram in 2012[7] but didn't receive increased engagement until 2017[8] when her selfies would consistently reach over 1,000 likes. She continued her presence on both Instagram and YouTube going into the year 2020. On January 6th, 2020, Matto posted her first TikTok,[9] earning roughly 19,300 plays and over 360 likes in two years (shown below).

90 Day Fiancé
On March 8th, 2020, Matto appeared in the first episode of the fourth season of 90 Day Fiancé, a reality TV show based on the online dating and marriage of foreigners. The risky nature of the premise made it ideal for reality TV and it attracted personalities who become memes themselves like Big Ed, who was featured in the same season as Matto.
Matto became most notable online due to the success of the show's fourth season. Additionally, she was part of the first LGBTQ+ couple in the show's history, along with her girlfriend in the show, Erika Owens.
Rise on TikTok from "Selling Farts in Jars"
On October 14th, 2020, Matto posted a TikTok[9] that became her first viral hit, earning roughly 1.1 million plays in a year and a half (shown below, left). However, she didn't receive over 1 million plays again until November 23rd, 2021, when she posted a TikTok[10] that earned roughly 7.6 million plays and 427,800 likes in five months. Within it, Matto stated in text overlay, "Day in the life of a girl who sells her farts in a jar" (shown below, right).

FartJar NFTs
Due to the success of her "fart jar" TikToks, Matto decided to launch an NFT project based on the concept titled, FartJar NFTs. She started it on December 17th, 2021, using a Twitter[13] account, with the first post simply reading "Hello World." Later that day, the first FartJar NFT was revealed with an illustration of a jar with a butt for a cork and Deal With It sunglasses on (shown below).[14]
Retirement from Fart Selling
On January 4th, 2022, it was reported by the NY Post[15] that Matto had to stop selling her farts due to a hospital visit caused by, "her steady diet of gas-inducing beans and eggs." After allegedly making more than $50,000 a week, totaling to roughly $200,000 in sales, Matto was rushed to a hospital with chest pains she feared were symptoms of a heart attack (photo of her in hospital shown below).
On January 5th, Matto posted a TikTok[16] in which she was green-screened in front of the NY Post article, earning roughly 401,100 plays and 5,400 likes in three months (shown below, left). Going into the rest of 2022, Matto continued to post content on TikTok about selling her farts despite her doing it no longer. For instance, on February 18th, 2022, she posted a TikTok[17] that received roughly 54,900 plays with text reading, "I was paid $100,000 to fly to France and fart on a guy!" (shown below, right). Later in the video, she stated she was just kidding and doesn't sell farts anymore.
