About
Happyroadkill is a webcomic artist known primarily for his depictions of American politics as depicted with funny animal characters. While openly leftist and frequently espousing controversial and/or stereotypical partisan opinions, he has been praised for his effective use of humor and aesthetically pleasing art style as compared to other political cartoonists.
History
Happyroadkill joined Twitter in March 2019 and launched his own standalone website in February of 2021.
According to a fan-made Wiki site endorsed on the latter official website, "Happy Diogenes Roadkill" (represented on his Wiki page by photos of an actual possum) was born on August 18 of 1999, and is described as "a leftist who criticizes all aspects of American politics, largely for their inevitable capitalist interest against the well being of the people." He identifies himself as a "Gen Z kid" and is openly gay.
Happyroadkill's political pieces have been frequently posted on Know Your Meme to generally positive reception since late 2020, with a take on the 2020 United States Presidential Election based on the Patrick Star's Wallet meme being the first such post to go viral on the site, although an earlier, apolitical image implying a closeted gay youth's sexual fixation on particularly masculine Pokémon was his first piece of any nature to be posted on KYM, and also received considerable attention.
Content Overview
Most of Happyroadkill's political cartoons focus on an anthropomorphic donkey and elephant respectively representing the Democratic and Republican parties of the United States in accordance with the parties' official animal mascots. According to the Wiki, said characters are named Don Kennedy and George O. Pillsbury, respectively. Other frequently shown figures include a bald eagle representing the United States as a whole, a pig representing capitalist corruption, a porcupine representing the Libertarian Party, a turtle representing the Green Party and other animal characters based on real-world symbols and stereotypes, all used throughout the comics to humorously embody and lampoon their corresponding viewpoints and agendas.
Other recurring subjects include the "Trash Birds", which appear to represent less-than-upstanding teenagers and young adults, mainly as stereotypically characterized on the West and East coasts of the United States, and the "Generations" series, featuring color-coded personifications of chronological groups such as Baby Boomers and Millennials.
