デデチ (romaji. Dedechi) is a Japanese artist under the name of Twitter / X account @dEi_pft. The artist is known for making PNG art templates like Duffel Coat Edits and Cheek Grabbing Material.

History

Dedechi began posting on Twitter in late April 2015. On March 7th, 2023, Dedechi^[1] uploaded an image template showing a hand making a pinching gesture. The caption roughly translated to "Knob material reposted". The post received 220 reposts and 724 likes in one year (shown below, left and right).

The post gained little attention with several Twitter / X accounts using it as edits to pinching characters. For example on December 10th, 2023, Twitter / X^[2] user @hanayagikonoha2 uploaded an POV edit as if the viewer pinching the character (shown below, left). On June 7th, 2024, Twitter / X^[3] user and VTuber @ushioda_mou uploaded an edit of herself get pinched by the viewer (shown below, right).

Online Presence

In 2023, Dedechi continued to create transparent PNG templates of hands interacting with things. For example, a December 9th, 2023, post by Dedechi^[4] showed a pair of hands holding onto a large winter coat, meant to be placed on a character of one's choice. The post received more than 12,000 reposts and 43,000 likes in seven months (shown below).

On December 12th, 2023, Twitter / X^[5] user @unpunpois uploaded an drawing edit using Dedechi's template. The post received more than 250 reposts and 2,100 likes in seven months (shown below, left). On the next day, Twitter / X^[6] user @_N_sol_ uploaded fan art of Aris or Alice from Blue Archive using Dedechi's template. The post received more than 463 reposts and 3,200 likes in seven months (shown below, right).

On June 25th, 2024, Dedechi^[7] uploaded a template showing a pair of hands interacting with someone's head and cheek. The post received more than 9,900 reposts and 89,000 likes in two days (shown below). On the next day, Twitter / X^[8] user @rouninnminarai uploaded an art edit that received more than 5,900 reposts and 80,000 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Duffel Coat Edits

Duffel Coat Edits refers to edits and fan art of characters wearing a cream-colored coat, red scarf and gloves in the wintertime, appearing to touch the viewer's cheeks. The format grew popular on Twitter / X starting in December 2023 (examples shown left and right).

Cheek Grabbing Material

Cheek Grabbing Material refers to a transparent PNG made by X / Twitter user @dEi_pft showing a hand reaching out to pinch someone's cheeks. The exploitable image caption is translated from Japanese to read, "Here's some cheek-grabbing material." The PNG came to be edited onto different drawings soon after it was posted in May 2024, becoming a redraw format with various characters being grabbed (examples shown left and right).

A Headpat And A Cheek Pinch

A Headpat and A Cheek Pinch is an exploitable transparent PNG POV meme template by Japanese artist Dedechi in which one hand is shown patting an invisible head while the other pinches a cheek. Posted in late June 2024, the format achieved virality on X / Twitter in the following week as people edited the image into other pictures (examples shown below).

Pushing Thumb Edits

Pushing Thumb Edits refers to exploitable memes made of a PNG format showing two arms pressing their thumbs into an object. The image grew popular in June of 2024, as memers added the arms in various images, as though they were coming from the viewer's POV, similar to Cheek Grabbing Material (examples shown below).
