Cheek Grabbing Material refers to a transparent PNG made by X / Twitter user @dEi_pft showing a hand reaching out to pinch someone's cheeks. The exploitable image caption is translated from Japanese to read, "Here's some cheek-grabbing material." The PNG came to be edited onto different drawings soon after it was posted in May 2024, becoming a redraw format with various characters being grabbed.
Origin
On May 21st, 2024, X[1] user @dEi_pft posted a transparent image showing a hand reaching out to pinch skin alongside a caption that read, "ほっぺ鷲掴み素材をどうぞ," or "Here's some cheek-grabbing material." The post gathered over 100 million views and 157,000 likes in two days (seen below).
Spread
The exploitable PNG was then used by various X / Twitter users in subsequent days, sometimes to pinch the cheeks of an anime character or pet or to pinch other body parts. For example, on May 22nd, 2024, X[2] user @DJDJNSDR posted an image of Kizaru from One Piece getting his cheeks pinched aggressively, gathering over 89,000 likes in a day (seen below, top).
Also on May 22nd, X[3] user @Zannie_X used the PNG to pinch the stomach of a VTuber, gathering over 13,000 likes in a day (seen below, bottom).
On May 22nd, 2024, the X[4] account @SonanLine used the PNG to pinch the "nose" of one of their trains, gathering over 40,000 likes in a day (seen below, top). Also on May 22nd, X[5] user @tkap_3 posted a Haikyuu!! character getting his cheeks pinched, gathering over 14,000 likes in a day (seen below, bottom).
