Parkour Civilization is a 2023 and 2024 Minecraft YouTube series told from the perspective of a "parkour noob" striving to rise to success in a Minecraft world named Parkour Civilization, where parkour permeates every area of life. The series has become a viral subject of memes and references online in September 2024 after the clip introducing the viewer to the world went viral on social media.

Origin

On October 5th, 2023, YouTube^[1] user Evbo uploaded the first episode of their series Parkour Civilization titled "Minecraft but I join PARKOUR CIVILIZATION." The episode introduces the viewer to the world of Parkour Civilization and its main protagonist, a fictional version of Evbo, who is trapped in a bizarre world where parkour permeates every area of life from buying property and buying food to defining one's social status. The opening part of the series, in which the protagonist is forced to choose between making an easy jump for raw chicken or a hard jump for raw beef, makes a trip to the Temple of Parkour, describes his living conditions and witnesses his neighbor plummet down, seemingly to their death, would gain viral interest. The episode (shown below) garnered over 5.7 million views in one year.

On October 6th, 2023, Evbo uploaded a TikTok^[2] video of the first minute and a half of the episode which received over 638,000 views and 32,400 likes on the platform in one year.

Evbo continued to upload new episodes of the series in late 2023 and 2024, uploading two two-hour compilation movies on December 18th, 2023 and June 1st, 2024. The movies (first film shown below) garnered over 25 million views and over 7 million views on YouTube,^[3][4] respectively.

Spread

The series did not achieve a significant presence in memes until late September 2024. On July 28th, 2024, TikTok^[5] user @movieclipz789 posted the opening clip of the first episode of the series which garnered over 3.8 million views and 225,000 likes on the platform in two months.

On September 26th, 2024, X^[6] user @clown_depot reposted the clip, which received over 6.9 million views, 6,000 reposts and 71,000 likes in four days.

Following the viral spread of the video on X / Twitter, the clip and the series became a popular subject of memes and references on the platform, with users quoting the lines from it and making comparisons to various shonen manga such as Jujutsu Kaisen. For example, on September 26th, X^[7] user @NoDizzyNoRobo quoted the post, commenting, "this is the real shonen," with their post gaining over 2,600 reposts and 31,000 likes in four days (shown below).

On September 29th, 2024, X^[8] user @heartsodull posted a Yeonmi Park on Joe Rogan meme referencing the series that garnered over 6,000 reposts and 75,000 likes in one day (shown below).

The series remained a viral subject of memes and references online through late September 2024.
