About
Moai La La La is a dance trend that was first popularized on the Korean streaming site Afreeca.tv in early 2024 by Korean influencer and streamer "K," who subsequently inspired a TikTok trend later that year in November. The dance is set to the song "La La La" by Moai, a saxophone-heavy electronic dance song. The trend is typically performed in a group, with each member doing a similar push-pull and hair swoop dance move with their hands.
Origin
On August 14th, 2023, the song "La La La" by Moai was uploaded to YouTube[1] by "Release – Topic," where it gathered over 1 million views in a year.
One of the earliest notable uses of the sound was a livestream by Korean influencer "K" who streams on the Korean streaming service Afreeca.tv. A reupload of the stream was posted to YouTube[2] on February 7th, 2024, showing two Korean men doing an early, more elaborate version of the dance trend that subsequently became popularized on TikTok. The video gathered over 7 million plays and 57,000 likes in nine months.

On September 17th, 2024, TikToker[3] @lil.ili.lil posted the song to TikTok, gathering over 1.9 million views and 49,000 likes in two months. The sound subsequently became the audio used for the TikTok version of the dance trend.
On October 8th, 2024, TikToker[4] @008.0821 posted a video dancing to the trend, crediting the aforementioned Korean streamer "K" in her caption. The video gathered over 17 million plays and 1 million likes in two months.

On October 28th, 2024, TikToker[5] @mauwright07 posted a video set to the song, taking turns to show a group of Korean schoolgirls taking turns to do the dance moves. The video gathered over 25 million views and 2.6 million likes in a month.

On November 1st, K-pop band TXT[6] posted a video dancing to the song, gathering over 7.8 million views and 1 million likes in three weeks.

On November 20th, 2024, Twitch streamer Pokimane posted a video doing the dance, gathering over 200,000 plays and 30,000 likes in a day.[7]
