Minecraft Sheep Fricker Machine is a common name given to a humorous Redstone apparatus in the video game Minecraft that imitates a sexual act with a sheep. The apparatus consists of a boat containing a sheep and a constantly triggering piston with an End Rod placed on it. Originating in late 2019, the device appeared in multiple Minecraft videos over the following years and inspired a meme speedrunning category in which players attempt to build the Fricker in the shortest amount of time.

Origin

The Sheep Fricker is a Redstone-powered device in Minecraft that consists of a Piston block with an End Rod attached, a boat with a sheep placed in a shallow hole in front of it, and an infinite Redstone loop.

The earliest found tutorial video for building the machine is an August 10th, 2019, video by YouTuber^[1] MineCraftBoy27 titled "Minecraft Sheep End Rod Penetration Machine TUTORIAL!" and the original inventor of the machine is unknown. The video (shown below) garnered over 193,000 views in five years.

In the following years, the machine appeared in multiple videos on YouTube, including tutorials, Let's Plays and speedruns.

Notably, on September 14th, 2019, YouTuber^[2] PewDiePie showed the machine built near his base in an episode of his Minecraft series. On September 15th, Redditor Kristapaas posted a still image from the video to the /r/PewdiepieSubmissions^[3] subreddit, where it gained over 11,000 upvotes in five years (shown below).

Meme Speedruns

The Sheep Fricker Machine has inspired a humorous Minecraft speedrunning category in which players attempt to build the machine in the shortest amount of time.

On July 25th, 2020, YouTuber^[4] cxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcxcx cxcx posted the earliest found attempt at speedrunning the category, completing the machine in 7.75 seconds. The video (shown below) garnered over 3,900 views in four years. Later on July 25th, YouTuber^[5] duckle posted a video of the machine being built in 3.88 seconds, with the video accumulating over 44,000 views in four years.

On July 7th, 2020, TikTok^[6] user @kawediloru posted a video of the machine being completed in 14 seconds. The video (shown below) received over 1.4 million views and 233,200 likes in four years.

The category regained popularity in 2024 after YouTube^[7] user Larry posted a since-removed speedrunning video on April 20th, 2024, of them building the machine from scratch in a set seed. The video garnered over 157,000 views prior to removal.

On July 7th, 2024, YouTuber^[8] Clementdav Runs posted a video of completing the task within the time of one minute and 11.868 seconds, with the upload (shown below) gaining over 501,000 views in three months.

On August 6th, 2024, YouTuber^[9] Clementdav Runs set a new record time of 55 seconds. On October 15th, YouTuber^[10] raddles set the latest known world record time of 53.125 seconds (shown below).
