Michael Rapaport Getting Hit By A Snowball refers to a viral video of actor Michael Rapaport appearing to launch into a rant about cancel culture when he's suddenly hit in the head with a snowball by an irate New Yorker. The video was quickly used in remixes and memes by Twitter users in early February 2022, though some believe it was a staged bit of marketing.
Origin
On February 3rd, 2022, Michael Rapaport posted a video with the caption, "Some a$$hole threw a snowball at me while I was in the middle of my rant. Does anyone know who this is? I’m very upset by this." It shows him beginning to launch a rant on cancel culture when he's hit in the head with a snowball by a New Yorker who tells him to "shut the fuck up." The video gained over 7,200 retweets, 8,500 quote-tweets and 62,000 likes in less than 24 hours (shown below).

The video quickly inspired video and image parodies on Twitter. User @letliveandlearn edited the video so that it transitioned into wrestler The Edge's entrance, gaining over 1,000 retweets and 8,600 likes in roughly 24 hours (shown below, top). User @ThatcherDemHoe posted a Toddroll edit with the clip, gaining over 230 retweets and 2,200 likes in a similar timeframe (shown below, bottom).

Other users made image memes based on the video as it became an exploitable. User @theewinger[1] posted an edit of an art gallery replacing every picture with Rapaport getting hit, gaining over 50 retweets and 1,800 likes in roughly 24 hours (shown below, left). User @communist_moon[2] posted a record scratch meme about the video, gaining over 340 likes in a similar timeframe (shown below, right).
Many believed the video was a staged bit of marketing for Rapaport's podcast. He later posted a picture with Dean Collins, who guest-hosted on his podcast, in a similar setting as the snowball video.[3] Furthermore, their episode had a segment on cancel culture.[4]
