Topographical Map of Brazil refers to a series of memes where a trad girl wojak is shown receiving a compliment beside the caption, "Girls when they get a compliment," on top of an image of a topographical map of Brazil next to the caption, "Topographical map of Brazil." The meme was posted in August 2022 and gained viral spread, inspiring snowclone memes replacing the map of Brazil with another map. The meme is a parody of relatable memes. It has been suggested that the meme is a joke about men getting so few compliments, however, this is speculative.

Origin

On August 26th, 2022, Redditor Bot1K posted a Wojak meme to /r/memes^[1] showing the caption, "Girls when they get a compliment" on the top next to a trad wife, captioned, "Thank you," and the caption, "Topographical map of Brazil" on the bottom next to a topographical map of Brazil, garnering over 5,500 upvotes in two weeks (shown below).

Spread

The meme received viral spread and inspired variations over the following weeks. On August 29th, 2022, Instagram^[2] user botoxqueen1968 posted a version of the meme replacing the map with a map of Louisiana, garnering over 37,200 likes in a week (shown below). On August 30th, the original meme was posted by Facebook^[3] page Memes which are so deep and dank that they return to normal, garnering over 8,900 shares and 24,000 reactions in a week.

On August 31st, Instagram^[4] user safeandlegalthrills posted a version of the meme making a joke about Throwing Car Batteries Into The Ocean, garnering over 1,300 likes in a week (shown below, left). On September 2nd, Instagram^[5] user memesforthepast posted a version using a map of the Romane Empire, garnering over 2,800 likes in four days (show below, right).
