"Three Looks" is a 2014 comedy song by YouTuber Jenna Marbles in which she sings about having only three looks: a homeless man, a 12-year-old boy and a hooker. The song inspired a fashion trend on TikTok in late 2019, seeing a number of revivals, most notably in May 2021. That July, it inspired the original sound I Got 3 Moods Bo Burnham, consisting of the song followed by Bo Burnham songs "Welcome to the Internet," "Look Who's Inside Again" and "Bezos I" from his comedy special Inside. The trend shares many similarities to the Men Only Have 4 Moods meme.

Origin

On August 8th, 2014, YouTuber Jenna Marbles released a song titled "Three Looks" featuring comedic lyrics about how she only has three looks, those of a homeless man, a 12-year-old boy and a hooker (shown below, left). The song went viral on TikTok^[1] in late 2019, with a fashion and lip-dup trend in which TikTokers interpret each look as Jenna sings them (compilation show below, right).

The sound inspired a number of viral videos on TikTok, reviving a number of times over the course of 2020 and 2021 (popular examples shown below, left and right).

I Got 3 Moods Bo Burnham

On May 30th, 2021, comedian Bo Burnham's special Inside premiered on Netlflix, containing a number of songs, including "Welcome to the Internet," "Look Who's Inside Again" and "Bezos I" (shown below, left, right, below respectively).

On July 14th, 2021, TikToker^[2] @julzmorriz posted a video set to an original sound consisting of the start of Jenna Marbles' "Three Looks" followed by sections of the three Bo Burnham songs one after another, showing herself in a different mood over each (shown below). The video gained over 2.4 million views in two weeks.

That month the hashtag "#3moods" hit TikTok's trending page, collecting a number of viral videos using the sound and related sounds, including those from the Men Only Have 4 Moods trend (examples shown below, left and right).^[3][4]
