Jack and Pickle Bite-Off, also known as Jack and Pickle's "Kiss" refers to a viral image of Baki characters Jack Hamma and Pickle linking mouths as in a "kiss," with Pickle actually biting and tearing away at Jack's mouth. Online, the clip and image of the scene have found use in memes, primarily as a caption format.

Origin

On July 26th, 2023, season two of net anime series Baki premiered on Netflix. In episode nine of the series, based on
chapter 140 "Tooth vs. Fang" of the manga series,^[1] characters Jack and Pickle are fighting each other, with Jack, upon noticing Pickle's massive fangs, engaging his opponent in a "bite-off," with both biting each other on their mouths. Pickle wins the bite-off, lifting his opponent with his teeth, spinning him around and tearing off his mouth and chin. On July 26th, 2023, YouTube^[2] user Cold Monster uploaded the scene of the fight to YouTube, where it accumulated over 193,000 views in two months (shown below).

Following the release of the episode, the clip of Jack and Pickle biting each other on the mouth and a still image of them locking their mouths achieved popularity in memes online. For example, on August 5th, 2023, X^[3] user @Kotochitw posted a two panel meme which compared the scene against Monkey D. Luffy's Gear 5th, writing "What they thought was going to break the internet / What actually broke it." The post (shown below) gained over 490 reposts and 5,700 likes in one month.

On August 28th, 2023, X^[4] user @ZeBlackBallD posted two fan art pieces based on the scene, one of them redraw of Jack Hamna as Kazuya Guy. The post (shown below) received over 160 reposts and 1,500 likes in two weeks.
