About
JaAm is a wacky edit made by Ben Yee from the Transformers Armada comic that portrays the character Hot Shot nut-job trying to obtain some kind of fuel that he assumes is jam while fending off the Decepticon Cyclonus and his Mini-Con partner Crumplezone.
History
Before Hasbro released its Armada line in 2002. Scans of the first pack-in comic were put up on the Transformers website and Ben's World of Transformers. Many fans were disappointed at the comic since it was done in a Trilingual format, resulting in short and stilted prose. The British fan Yartek took the comic and turned it into Armada- The Real Story Yartek's story portrayed Hot Shot as a mentally challenged freak who proclaimed such things as: "mY liFE iS PaIn" and "WhY mY ShOuLdErS hUrT?" in random upper and lowercase letters, red text, and in Comic Sans format. The quote "JaAm" comes from Hot Shot mistaking a large energy draining device for a jar of jam.
Popularity
Although Yartek found his written comic terrible, the fandom went crazy over the comic and shot it into famedome for the duration of Armada and beyond.
Uses today
Ben Yee continues to use JaAm as ratings in his review system with toys rating from "Yum Jam!" to "My Life is Pain."
Hasbro referenced JaAm twice in Hot Shot's reincarnation in the Universe toyline. Once on his license and in his bio where it is described as a mysterious feul source.
