About
I Am the Angry Pumpkin is a copypasta based on a Plants vs. Zombies clip in which Argentinian Twitch streamer Bananirou uses a Squash to defend against a Catapult Zombie, commenting on what is happening as he does so. Originally in Spanish, the clip was translated into English and went viral in early 2024, with Bananirou's translated dialogue achieving popularity as a copypasta and meme reference.
Origin
On October 14th, 2023, streamer Bananirou uploaded a Plants vs. Zombies gameplay clip from his recent Twitch stream to YouTube.[1] In the clip, Bananirou plants a Squash in front of a Catapult Zombie to promptly get rid of it, commenting in an agitated manner. The clip (shown below) garnered over 247,000 views in seven months.
On December 2nd, 2023, TikTok[2] user @juhnathan_shitposts posted a dubbed version of the clip, likely translated and voiced using AI by an unknown user. The clip (shown below) garnered over 827,000 views and 126,000 likes in seven months (shown below, left). On December 12th, TikTok[3] user @italianisaac posted the full version of the translated clip (shown below, right).

Oh no, it is the dive rocket launcher! Take action regarding that individual. Relax, I'll handle it. I am the angry pumpkin! The architect and the builder, they arrive calmly from their escalator with the sense of purpose. They are playing at their residence. The head is soaring!
The last line of Bananirou's speech is a quote from a 2009 Argentinian commercial for Mis Ladrillos, a construction toy.[4]
Spread
In late December 2023 and early January 2024, the translated clip received further spread online, including reposts on YouTube, Reddit and other sites. On January 13th, 2024, Redditor Inevitable_Exit8103 posted the clip to the /r/okbuddyzomboss[5] subreddit, where it gained over 3,000 upvotes in five months.
On January 22nd, X[5] user @Hm_Spooky reposted it with the caption "Me stimming in the vc cause nobody is talking," with the post gaining over 4,500 reposts and 25,000 likes in four months (shown below).

Following the viral spread in January 2024, Bananirou's speech, and the line "I am the angry pumpkin" achieved online popularity as a spam comment.
On January 28th, 2024, the X[6] / Twitter gimmick account The Angry Pumpkin (@TehAngryPumpkin) was launched, using the line "I am the Angry Pumpkin" as its catchphrase.
On March 22nd, X[7] user @ZOMBIEOFFFENDER posted a fan animation inspired by the copypasta that received over 1,100 reposts and 5,900 likes in two months (shown below).

On May 25th, 2024, X[8] user @peepo173 again reposted the translated clip, with the post gaining over 5,500 reposts and 42,000 likes in four days. The repost was followed by more memes and fan art referencing the video.
