Overview
Mrs. Porter's Second Grade Class Survey is a Google Docs survey created by a class of American second graders. While intended to be shared locally, the survey went viral globally, racking up hundreds of thousands of responses and gaining significant media attention.
Background
The survey was created by the second grade class of teacher Kara Porter from North Vermillion Elementary School, located in Cayuga, Indiana. It features one question per student in the class and all are simple choices. For example, one question is, "What is your favorite food, pizza or soup?" On March 14th, 2017, the North Vermillion Elementary School Facebook page[1] posted a link to Mrs. Porter's survey.[2]

Please help Mrs. Porter's second grade class as they study surveys and graphs. They would love to see how many responses they can get and all of the different places their responses come from! Each student in Mrs. Porter's class has created one of the questions in this survey. Thank you for your help and participation!
Developments
The survey quickly went viral as people from all over the world responded to the survey. As of March 17th, the Facebook post has over 2,500 shares. According to a Buzzfeed[3] article written on the 15th, the survey had already amassed over 230,000 responses in one day. The same day, the Buzzfeed reporter who wrote the article, Julia Reinstein, tweeted[6] the survey out to her followers, gaining over 5,000 retweets and likes, helping the survey spread through Twitter.
Twitter users found the poll adorable and wholesome, two factors that likely lead to its wide spread.
