Overview
The Gen Z Quant Rug Pull refers to a viral controversy involving a kid who reportedly made roughly $30,000 before school while livestreaming the creation of his meme coin cryptocurrency Gen Z Quant ($QUANT) on Pump.fun, which rapidly gained a high market capitalization only for him to "rug pull" all the investors' money. The boy's stream clip went viral on Twitter / X in late November 2024, sparking viral discourse about meme coins and the ethics of crypto rug pulls. Some called him the Quant Kid in memes and reactions. The kid was later doxxed by pump.fun users who created coins based on the kid's parents and sister, called QUANT DAD, QUANTMOM and QUANT SIS.
Background
On November 19th, 2024, pump.fun[1] user Fi2hrx created a meme coin called Gen Z Quant (QUANT). He sold 51 million tokens for 128 Solana (SOL) (approximately $30,000) and then cashed out in a rug pull, earning about $29,600.[2][6] Roughly 15 hours after it was created, the coin had achieved a peak market capitalization of over $22.6 million (shown below).
After the Gen Z Quant coin was created by user Fi2hrx, he began livestreaming on pump.fun. In the first seven minutes of its creation, Fi2hrx executed the rug pull. The moment was caught in a livestream clip posted by X[3] user @BeezyScores at 11:03 p.m. EST on November 19th, gaining over 3,700 likes in less than a day (shown below).

After the kid rug pulled Gen Z Quant, other pump.fun users retaliated by pumping the coin, causing its value to increase more than when Fi2hrx pulled out. The 51 million $QUANT he sold was later worth about $4 million.[2][6]
On November 20th, 2024, X[4] user @mezoteric tweeted screenshots of pump.fun coins called QUANT DAD, QUANTMOM and QUANT SIS, which allegedly used the names and photos of user Fi2hrx's family members after he was doxxed by pump.fun users. The tweet received over 5,000 likes in less than a day (shown below).
