About
Ketogenic Diet, also known as the Keto Diet, refers to diet limiting or nearly eliminating dietary carbohydrates in favor of fat and protein in order to induce a metabolic state known as ketosis, in which the body's energy supply is primarily fueled by ketone bodies in the bloodstream.
History
In the early 1920s, the ketogenic diet was born out of studies which discovered various ketone bodies present in the blood of healthy individuals who abstained from eating carbohydrate. The diet was initially used for patients suffering from epilepsy as an alternative to fasting.
Paleo Diet
The paleo diet is a type gluten free diet which attempts to eliminate foods that were not consumed by humans prior to the Neolithic agricultural revolution, including dairy, legumes, processed oils, refined sugars and all grains.
