The Chika Dance Guy, also known as Doing the Chika Dance Every Day 'Til I Get a Girlfriend or Doing the Chika Dance Everyday Till I Get a Girlfriend, refers to a series of TikTok videos from user Esteblook (@esteblook) of himself doing the Chika Dance every day until he gets a girlfriend. He started posting the videos in 2020. Esteblook is an anime and manga and is considered a Weeaboo by many of his followers. Over five years, Esteblook posted a Chika Dance video every day. In January 2025, when a U.S. TikTok Ban was imminent, people circled back to Esteblook's series and encouraged someone to become his girlfriend before TikTok ended. Esteblook then addressed the buzz in a candid video, explaining his attempts over the years. It was a goodbye video because he said he wouldn't continue the series if TikTok got banned.

Origin

On February 9th, 2020, TikToker^[1] Esteblook (@esteblook) shared "Day 1" of "Doing the Chika Dance everyday till I get a girlfriend," receiving over 26.8 million plays and 748,800 likes in five years (shown below).

Spread

On the following day, February 10th, 2020, Esteblook dueted his TikTok,^[2] showing "Day 2" of his challenge, gaining over 1 million plays and 27,600 likes in five years. Every day after that, Esteblook continued to share videos of himself doing the Chika Dance.

In 2022, some thought that he got a girlfriend, like TikToker^[3] @sailorshel on October 17th, who shared a video congratulating Esteblook, gaining over 171,700 likes in three years (shown below). However, Esteblook never stopped posting his videos and people in @sailorshel's comment section said, "That’s not his girlfriend sadly."

On April 27th, 2023, TikToker^[4] @theanimemen shared a video with Esteblook in which they gave him advice on how to get a girlfriend. The video received over 335,500 likes in two years (shown below).

Others also recreated Esteblook's series, like TikToker^[5] @xuandere on August 10th, 2023, gaining over 365,800 likes in two years (shown below).

U.S. TikTok Ban

In January 2025, people circled back to Esteblook's series because of the U.S. TikTok Ban set for January 18th. For instance, on January 15th, TikToker^[6] @noahglenncarter shared a video, telling his follower, "We have to get him a girlfriend," receiving over 71,400 likes in two days (shown below).

Goodbye Video

On January 16th, 2025, Esteblook shared a TikTok^[7] titled, "The End?" In it, he discussed the buzz about the U.S. TikTok Ban related to his videos over the years. He said he made a lot of friends on TikTok. Also, he said he asked three girls to be his girlfriend over the years but none accepted. He said that if TikTok got taken down, he wouldn't continue his Chika Dance series on another app. The video gained over 62,200 likes in a day (shown below).

Many reacted to Esteblook's video and called it his "goodbye video." For instance, on January 16th, TikToker^[8] @_camilacamacho_ shared a video, writing, "The Chika guy made a goodbye video," receiving over 91,200 likes in a day (shown below).
