About

"Always Go For This / Only Villains Do That" is an exploitable piece of My Hero Academia fan art in which the character "All Might," alias of Toshinori Yagi, explains that one should "always go for this" next to an image of a character or action, and "only villains do that" next to the character or action's opposite.

Origin

On August 6th, 2017, Twitter artist @villhut^[1] posted an image featuring My Hero Academia character Toshinori Yagi alias All Might showing the correct way to set toilet paper while saying that only villain do it facing the wall (shown below). The tweet gained over 14,000 retweets and 26,000 likes.

Spread

The following day, a thread about the image was posted to Funnyjunk, where it gained over 1,200 likes.^[2] In that thread, a template for the image was created by user popcornatedanime (shown below).

Exploitable variations were created in that thread and soon spread elsewhere. On October 14th, 2017, an exploitable variation by Twitter user @Zela_Kantal^[3] gained over 34,000 retweets and 51,000 likes (shown below, left). Twitter user @MrMcPizza^[4] uploaded a variation on November 1st, 2017 about Cuphead toys, gaining 190 retweets and 485 likes (shown below, right).
