I am making this thread to discuss this article that was just published in The Guardian. Of course, that Facebook let ill-intended people do their stuff should be no surprise to anyone who paid attention to the past decade, but this story gives first-hand account (i.e., from a former data scientist who got fired in September 2020) of a typical policy abuse scenario named "fake engagement". Given how Facebook plays a considerable role in politics nowadays, I think it deserved to be mentioned around here.
